Legends Equimin vs Cal Trace vs ?

I have used Equimin in the past, but haven’t in several years. I am considering adding it back to my feed program. I am trying to find something that will boost my feed program, or make it so I can use less of the main feed stuffs I’m currently using.

36 year old 14.1 hand gelding

6 lbs of Timothy pellets, 6 lbs of hay stretcher, 1 lb of Seminole Equalizer and access to pasture and alfalfa/grass blend hay in a hay net. He plucks the net to get the alfalfa leaves to fall into the tub I use to collect the chaff. He is in light work. 2-5 miles a time 2-3 days a week.

12 year old 16.3 OTTB gelding.

12 lbs alfalfa grass mix hay, 3 lbs of Seminole Dynasport, 1/2 lb Seminole Equalizer, 1/2 cup of DuMor Hoof Supplement, access to pasture. He is in medium to heavy work. He is ridden 20+ miles a week(mileage will be increasing to 30+ a week). He is ridden 3-5 times a week.

8 year old 16.1 hand OTTB

12 lbs of alfalfa grass mix hay, 3lbs of Seminole Dynasport, 1/2 lb Seminole Equalizer, 2 lbs of Seminole Ultrabloom, 1/2 cup
of DuMor Hoof Supplement, 2,000 iu of Vitamin E, access to pasture. Same work level as the previous horse.

CT has way more copper and zinc than Equimin

CT has more Vit E but less Vit A

If you wanted to really know which would work best, you need a forage analysis.

Simplifying things would mean using a regular feed, not a balancer, and feeding enough of that for the 36yo.

For the 12yo and 8yo , is that 12lb of hay twice a day? What’s the pasture situation like - full time access, or just part of the day? What about the 3lb Dynasport and 1/2lb Equalizer - 1x or 2x a day?

For the 8yo, simplification at least could be more Dynasport (assuming a 1x a day feeding) and dropping the UltraBloom

Other than the 36 yo, they are fed once a day and have free access to pasture. I still have several weeks of grazing left, but it’s not at its peak. Once the pasture goes, they will get hay twice a day. And then more on top of that when the temperatures drop.

The 36 year does best on grass pellets. He has a very unhappy gut on a complete feed diet. Lots of diarrhea and liquid farts. He has teeth, but they are smooth, so he doesn’t get much nutrition from regular hay or pasture. His lbs of mash will go up as the temperatures decrease. I’ve tried just feeding him hay pellets, but he doesn’t live the flavor. The hay stretcher gets him eating, but doesn’t seem to bother his GI tract when mixed with the grass pellets.

The 8year old is the SLOWEST eater on earth, even with a feed bag. I was hoping to get more bang calorie wise per pound with the fat supplement and it not take as long to eat.

The 12yo is gaining weight and looking really good.

The 8 yo is gaining weight, but I’d like to see him gain more.
