Legs wraps for flies...which are the best

I used some when they first came out years ago, but they kept falling down so I pitched them. Hopefully, they’ve improved by now.

For those who have used or use them, which are the best?

TIA

I haven’t found a perfect pair yet. My favorites are the Kensingtons and the Cashel Crusaders. I did find I had to remove and rinse them daily or they would fall and rub the horses legs.

Here are some pics of the different types on the same horse to give you an idea of size and fit

Thanks.

Sounds like they are not much proved from 15 year ago.

I don’t mind the dirty part (that can be cleaned, but I don’t want to put a wet wrap back on a horse, so that may require having 2 pair).

It’s the falling down and risk a bowed tendon or something.

I’ve had pretty good success with the professional’s choice fly boots. They’re fleece lined and I thought they would be awfully hot in our dry summer heat, but they actually stayed pretty cool, have yet to fall off or be detroyed. I don’t know how they would fair in a very humid environment. I only got a second pair for this summer so I can swap them out to clean them when needed. I also have a pair of Kensington Naturals that are pretty tough, but I prefer the Pro Choice boots overall.

Not much luck with boots but I have been using RepelX lotion with some success. It rubs into their legs nicely and seems to keep the stomping to a minimum. Don’t have to worry about leg rub or falling down boots. It does last a few days too if you don’t hose it off

I have the Kensingtons. The only time they come down too far is if I don’t make the bottom velcro tight enough. Otherwise they work great.

For the last few years of my horse’s life I used Shooflies. I didn’t ride him in them but he wore them round the clock for 3 months. Never a problem with slipping or rubs. They recreated goofy looking but really work. I bought them from Dry Creek Western Wear’s website.

I have these. They stay up well and last–they are on their second summer, and my horse wears them every day.

I’ve got the Got Flies? wraps, they used to be called something else though. They stay up, didn’t rub my horse and he usually had them on about 12 hours a day. I’ve been really happy with them.

“Sox for Horses” are fantastic. http://www.soxforhorses.com/
They require some extra work to put them on and take them off but can be left on 24/7. Second choice is Amigo’s wraps. I liked the Fly Wraps, but they come in only one size (horse).

I have these https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/smartpak-deluxe-fly-boots--11108 and they are still holding up great after heavy use last summer. They stay up and don’t shift around at all!
