Hi - friend is looking for a lesson barn for a horse-obsessed 9 year old…any recommendations for solid, well-run beginner lesson program near Richmond VA? No aspirations of showing, as far as I’m aware. Thanks!
Silver Lining Farm (John West), Stillmeadows Farm (Sulu Reed) immediately come to mind. I think there are a few others that have active lesson programs as well, but I know those two are good long term programs with school horses.
Level Green Riding School in Powhatan is also a very good choice. Solid beginner program and a large lesson string.
About 45 min from Richmond but Leigh Rigsby at Whippoorwill is great with kids and she doesn’t just teach them to ride. They learn all aspects of horse care. She is in between Richmond and Williamsburg.
