Lesson programs in New Mexico?

I’m getting ready to move to the Alamogordo, NM area in a month and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a hunter barn that has a lesson program? I don’t have my own tack or horse, but I’m a fairly confident rider. Thanks for any information!

When I lived there, there wasn’t much. Sharon stewart wells had a gorgeous facility in Ruidoso. She is also a judge. I heard at one time she was selling it, but don’t know if she did. She used to have clinics there, by people like Linda allen.

Las Cruces has some places that give lessons. El Paso does as well.

Alamogordo was a neat little town. Great hiking/trails in Cloudcroft. PM me if you want a list of things to do.

Thank you so much for the info! I’m going to being moving, again - permanently, to Clovis in February. As far as I can tell there are no barns within 3 hours of there. Really missing the east coast!

There are barns in Clovis, and a big college. You can ride and get lessons but you might have to switch to Western. It’s still riding and, if the trainer is any good, many of the basics are similar.

I bet when you get there, you will find at least one Hunt Seat barn or a QH barn that has Hunt Seat. Sometimes you need to be flexible and keep an open mind if you really do love horses and want to ride. Might learn something too. Like a Reining is a KITA.

Thanks but I don’t ride western, and have no ambition to start.
