Lessons near Baltimore?

I’m a college student looking for dressage lessons near Baltimore MD – but I have no horse, and I’m having a difficult time finding a dressage barn with schoolhorses.

I’m willing to drive for any place with a dressage trainer and schoolhorses, or potentially a half-lease. Does anyone have any recommendations?

If you can join the FB group called “New Local Horsemans Group” (https://www.facebook.com/groups/557458077709001/) you should be able to find a few people who are available for a half lease. I once posted that I was looking for a horse to just trail ride and had a few people offer their horses.

Depending on where you are exactly in Baltimore, I know of a few barns that may have schoolmasters. You can send me a PM.

Nicki Carson of Elevation Dressage trains out of a friend’s barn (GoodNess Ridge Farm) in Mount Airy which is about 45-50 min from Baltimore. Nicki is great and may have some suggestions of how to go about getting some ride time in.

Check out Encore Stables in Fulton, Athena is great and I know that they have lesson horses available. www.encorestables.com

Thank you all!

Nicki also comes to my barn that is right near Goodness Ridge. I am looking for someone to at least ride my gelding (if you want something to ride only for lessons) or even lease. He requires an experienced (doesn’t have to be in dressage) and light rider but he’s solid 2nd level and schooling 3rd.

Oops double post

I am a working student for Marija Trieschman in Harwood, which is about 40 minutes from Baltimore. I have learned SO much during the little time I have been with her. Don’t hesitate to message her on Facebook. She’s really easygoing!

What a small world!

I can also vouche for Marija. I rode with her during college when I didn’t have a horse and when I leased out my horse. I rode one of her boarder’s grand prix horses and received daily lessons for helping out around her farm. Marija would sometimes ride at the same time as me and give me lessons, which allowed me to watch her ride and show me what I needed to do. Just by watching her I was able to significantly improve my riding. Actually, I used to ride with Marija before I recently moved to Carroll County and am now based out of GoodNess Ridge with my trainer who just moved there!
