Lessons near Wellington, FL?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been reading for awhile, but this is my first time posting.

My husband and I will be vacationing in Florida right before Christmas and he is planning to do some rowing in the Wellington area. While he’s rowing I thought it might be nice to take a few lessons but am not familiar with the area.

Any suggestions for barns to call?

A little background on me if it helps. I’m an adult amateur doing mostly low level hunters, nothing more than 2’6" and I’ve been riding for about 6 years.

Thank you in advance for your help!

You need a school horse then, yes?

I have a good pro friend who has just moved to Delray Beach who could teach you. She’s good and lots of fun. Let me see if she’s got a horse you could ride. If so, I’ll PM you her contact info.

Yes, I would definitely need a school horse.

Thank you for your reply. I started doing internet research and the number of places was overwhelming.

I don’t know if she has school horses, but I know Cheyene Sickle has a barn in Wellington. Top hunter rider, look her up

threehearts - Thank you! I’ll make sure to look her up.

There are tons of places in Wellington, but the lesson horse requirement might narrow the field quite a bit.

Maybe check out out the Palm Beach Riding Academy? I don’t have any first hand experience with them, but I think they do have lesson horses.

And welcome to the BB.

Ok, my friend in Delray beach doesn’t have school horses herself, but did suggest you call Carriage Hill Farm. They look to have an established school program.

Thank you all for your help!

It’s not exactly what you asked for, but I know a few people who took polo lessons at the International Polo Club during their Mondays off from showing at WEF last year. Could be a really fun opportunity to change things up!

Forget lessons - go shopping at WEF!

Try Castlewood Farm, they have a lot of horses available for all different levels!

There won’t be much shopping before the main circuit starts.

Shopping is on the plan, though as Midge said, I think WEF doesn’t actually start until January. I’ve already researched some tack shops in the area and am planning on at least checking them out. We only have one very small local place in my area so hoping selection will be better there.

Omg. Bring an empty suitcase! A big one.

Tackeria, Dover, and many smaller places are within a mile or two of the showgrounds, right on Pierson Road. And some of the major vendors at the showgrounds might be open, like Hadfields and Equine Tack.

I agree with Carriage Hill Farms and also give Bramasole Stables (they are located out of Johnson’s Folly Farm) a call.
