I should have riding goals for next year, but I don’t! This year I did a few clinics - Buck Branaman and Harry Whitney and The Californios - and some fun cow day stuff at our local horsemen’s arena.

My goal was to get started with the hackamore, and I did that at the BB clinic:

Cow play dates were fun but I got tennis elbow and had to stop riding for a few weeks. Oh, and I had to go back to my dressage saddle because my western saddle just wasn’t working.

I of course did lots of trail riding! And I found a new dressage instructor and started taking lessons again after a couple years off from that.

I guess my goal for next year is to get my JJ Maxwell saddle that I’ve had on order since May!

Oh, and I got a new filly this summer that maybe I’ll back next summer.

My other show mare, that I have not shown for two years, as I have been doing barefoot founder re-habilitation, so have kept her barefoot and trail ridden with hoof boots

My goal-explore some more wilderness, go on apack trip again, which I have not done in a few years, and get Smilie 100% barefoot sound again, and show her once more, to add a western riding ROM to her ROMs in Trail, western pleasure, HUS and halter

Awesome scenery, KIloBright. Nothing better in my book than riding mountain trails, which is something hard to come by in Kansas…although, the Flint Hills can be really pretty in the spring.

My goal is to enter my first mounted shooting competition on my new gelding! He got strangles and a hoof abscess this fall so all our plans were put on hold.
