Lex Locals: Good Eats?

The husband and I are looking for a couple of delicious, unique-to-Lexington dining options for Friday and Saturday nights. Maybe one meal that’s more casual (really great BBQ or something along those lines) and the other fine-dining.

Interested in your favorites!

Ramseys…good southern food, casual

I ate at Oasis last night in Chevy Chase, local casual Mediterranean food.

Fine Dining:
Azur in Beaumont but you will need reservations
Merrick Inn - off Tates Creek need reservations

Have fun in Kentucky!!! Head downtown sometime to catch some live music I was down for a bit today and it was lovely

There’s a whole thread here - keep scrolling down - about other things to do in Lex area. Several posts list local restaurants in detail. Yum.

Azur is doing one of the Celebrity Chef dinners at KHP, but they are also offering special WEG breakfasts and lunches. A foodie friend recommended it.

Billy’s BBQ is awesome. Low key and huge portions of Kentucky mutton BBQ. It’s over by UK campus.

Azur rocks, and A La Lucy (french) in Lex is great too

I second Ramseys (love their fried green tomatoes and mayday pie).

If you want a nicer place, Dudleys on Short. Be sure to have their living green salad and the Banana Churros desert.

Malones, Sal’s, Dudley’s.

Mellow Mushroom has great pizza…

I love Ramsey’s too…

I’ve eaten at The Mellow Mushroom in Nashville-- yummy!

The plans include Jonathon’s at Gratz Park, Billy’s BBQ, and maybe lunch at Ramsey’s. This, combined with the fact that we’ll be coming into town via the Wild Turkey distillery, should keep my husband in good mood throughout.

Thanks for all the tips!

Malones!

My DH and I really like http://www.buddysbarandgrill.com/

Where I eat:
Merrick Inn
Le Deauxville
Wallace Station
Ramseys
Kashmir (Indian)
Sahara (Med)
Oasis (Med)
Le Martine (French bakery)
Pazzos (local beer joint)
Savs (African)
Jalapenos (Mexican)
Billys BBQ (American Southern)

Directions to La Martine, please? Can’t find it online.

If you are interested in eating healthy and locally grown Stella’s for lunch cannot be beat. Also if you are in Georgetown Circa 1840 rivals any of the nice places in Lexington. Their scallops and shrimp with woodford reserve sauce is to die for. Midway also has three great fine dining restuarants. Nice thing about KY you can go to any of the restuarants in jeans and paddock boots no need to dress up.

Definately try to make it to DeSha’s on Main street-it is delicious food and upscale horsey atmosphere–you’ll love it!
PS-Get the spinich artichoke dip

Don’t miss breakfast at Keeneland early in the am to eat a huge Southern breakfast and watch the TBs train. It’s an experience that is completely unique to Keeneland and Lexington.

“La Martine” probably meant “Le Matin”

Close to Billy’s BBQ

And for the best doughnuts you’ve ever had, try Spalding’s Bakery

Seriously, those donuts are to die for.

And another vote for Billy’s BBQ, I love that place

I second Wallace Station (lunch only , except fried chicken dinners Monday evenings), also Holly Hill Inn in Midway.
