Lexington, KY Vet Recommendations

I am hoping to find a Vet for my 20-year old mare.

I’ve been reading through here but the posts are a decade ago and things change and people move away.

I know about the main three - Hagyard, R&R, and Park Equine. I could pick from them, or if there are any independent vets, that works, too.

I don’t want an intern or someone here just to learn. Been there and tired of it. I want ONE person (WITH EXPERIENCE and some time under their belt) to be her vet and still be her vet 5-years from now. Seems impossible these days, but at least I can ask around.

Thanks,

EE

I have used Dr. Heather Woodruff and really liked her. I’m blanking on the practice name…there is one other vet in the practice. Very thorough and very nice.

I have a horse in training in that area and they use Kentucky Equine Hospital (Simpsonville area)…I don’t know any of the vets personally, so I might not be the best person to make a recommendation. But, I trust the trainer I use in selecting a good vet! And, my one gelding did give himself a nasty gash and Dr. Johnson stitched him up and you can hardly even see a scar! It healed very well…considering how nasty it was, it was clear that they knew what they were doing in treating it.
