Lido Palace Offspring Updates?

Cross-post from SHB.

I know there are several of us that have Lido Palace babies. Just checking to see how they’re doing and if you have any updated pictures/videos/stories. Would love to see and hear them. My “Nemo”(West Lido) is doing very well. He’s like a different horse then when we brought him home and is w/t/c and jumping small fences. Couldn’t have asked for a better partner!

Lido has been the good, the bad and the ugly lately. Five year olds. Turns out “four year olds” aren’t the only series of four letter words strung together. Today he celebrated his split personality by being awesome through his My Fisher Price First In and Out (complete with oxer) and then galloping out a 5 line like a bonafide freight train (dude, there IS a reason stuck that slow twist on your show bridle, don’t make me get the shuttleworth narrow hard slow twist out of the box!)

But he was super duper amazing at a local show two weeks ago, just clocked around and started to put all the pieces together, for the first time I felt like 3 foot next year wasn’t a pipe dream.

My friend took some video and also grabbed a few stills. The good:

I love this pic as a friend of mine said, not only are you both looking at the next fence, you are even looking at the SAME fence. These are greenie baby victories!

OK it was a long spot, but such a pretty set of jumps

he’s getting the hang of this jumping stuff

Then there was the bad and ugly a week before the show. He decided that gymnastics were scary. He decided this because he tripped over the trot pole on the way in. Fortunately I know what happens next.

before he tripped he thought it was hunky dory

Then he tripped (and by tripped I mean he knocked the pole a wee bit  )

Lido: ruh roh, I don’t think this is such a hot idea

DMK: neither so I you little $hit, but you ain’t leaving except by way of oxer express

Lido: I HATE U!!!1!! DMK: right back atcha, babe!

Lido: Fine, so this time I will just fling myself hysterically

Youngsters: :D:mad::rolleyes::sigh::D:D:D:D:dead::rolleyes::D:D:D

Canes Palace has been a rock star. Between work and this crazy hot weather she only gets ridden once or twice a week (sometimes less… ) and she comes out the same each day. There is very little non sense with her. We do have a mare moment once every like 6 months but they are over quickly. She has one great brain though for a five year old. Super quiet, very handy and happy to adjust to anything you ask.*

We have also been going on tons of trail rides which have been great for both of us. It is so nice to have a horse trailer well and get off the trailer calm as can be even when our trail buddy can be a little worked up.*

She has been gaining more strength and confidence each time she is ridden. Hoping to get out to the xc course again soon!*I love that she is so game to try everything and anything.

Love this mare and could not be any happier with her! (I will work on posting some pics)*

Does anyone know if we can post pics from an iPhone?

Hey everyone! I know we have a few folks with Lido Palace babies on here and I love hearing about what they’re doing/seeing pictures? How are your LP offspring coming along?

Nemo and I haven’t done a ton this year because life has been so insanely busy. We’re relocating back to PA and have found a wonderful barn, can’t wait to be back in a program. More serious updates to come once we’re moved and settled! For now, here are some pictures(that hopefully work…)

Links work now

Great update from you - so nice to hear you are in a happier place with him

DMK, do you still have your guy? Love his canter.

Yes, would love to hear an update from DMK as well. Her guy is just lovely!

Tattered - your guy is looking so good!

Oh yes, I still have Lido, although between work (health care reform - still not as much fun as you might think) and the godawful winter (polar vortexes 1 through 45), we haven’t done much this year.

I’ve reached a place in my life where I am seriously questioning if I want to show any more. It might only be next year’s rated TB division that brings me back, we shall see… But in the mean time I’m having a great time doing hunter paces, jumping jumps, and … dabbling into western. Like I’m serious, I want to see if he can do that working cow horse or team penning stuff. I’ve put a really good back on him and we are starting rollback work. He’s um, good. I have a guy who rides him once a week and does reiners. He said he would normally laugh at the idea of a TB busting out a reining move, but not Lido. I just need to have the right introduction to cows and some clinic work and I may go full on dark side (except for the part where the jumps are not coming out of the arena). However see above re work and weather for failure to execute in this area as well.

But we got in a few fun rides (and pics!) this year. For your viewing pleasure…

Lido - the view from up top (helmet cam) 58 seconds of WIND!

Then we had a hunter pace. There were pics and even vids.

you know you are with hunter/jumper types when we all talk about how cute the jump is. Eventers probably wouldn’t be caught dead muttering such things

But to be fair, he is kind of cute over a fence

And we went on a weekend trip to SoPi, where there were not a lot of pics, just this video, which kind says it all. Literally. (LOVE this saddle pad - I designed it myself and it kind of sums him up)
SoPi weekend

But rides and actual progress has been in short supply this year, I finally feel like in the last month I have a bit of a schedule maintained. Today was the first time we have jumped a mostly 3 foot course in ages.
