What can you guys tell me about him as a hunter sire? I’m thinking of picking up one of his babies this weekend.
CANTER had an absolutely lovely mare named Canes Palace who had the brains, movement and jump to allow her to do well in the hunter ring. She was very kind and willing. The type of horse that anybody could ride. I know another friend who will probably post her about her lovely Lido Palace horse.
We’ve actually had two come through canter… the one Jess mentioned may have been the love of my life! The other was very similar. Both very nice movers, but the thing that stands out is they both had fantastic brains. Just quiet quiet quiet! And cp had the most wonderful canter! Not a huge horse but a lovely, big, east stride.
The other one we had is now owned by a COTH’er so hopefully she will pipe up.
And DMK has one too 
I will say if I saw one for sale and had money to buy I might buy sight unseen, just because experience with them has been so consistent.
You missed a chance to see him last year when he was standing in PA at Northview’s Peach Bottom farm. Jlee is correct, DMK has a very handsome son of Lido Palace.
He stand in Peru now, at Haras El Centauro.

How could I forget about fortheloveofrita! I remember we took her on donation just because she was by Lido Palace. She was super easy, nice mover, quiet and sweet. Both mares had a bunch of white on them and were very attractive.
Thanks gals! ETBW, I found that picture yesterday, he was very handsome! Hope you’re doing well. Makes me very happy to hear good things about Lido Palace kids. I contacted DMK about her boy and she had rave reviews! The only I’m looking at is West Lido. He has a video on youtube, but keep in mind before that video was taken, he had been in a stall for three weeks with no turn out because of his former situation. Here’s hoping I bring him home this weekend!
Yes, I love my Lido Palace, Tattered Daydreamer got the entire rave review packet, and the trademark canter is totally there on your guy!
I remember when my friend and I went to go look at him when he was in full sales prep, and they put him in the lunge arena and he cantered off… We both simultaneously stepped back from the yearling and sales managers, jaws dropped… I know I was thinking, “That colt is 15 months old and I can see the distance to the first fence already!” :lol: Lovely natural balance, great mover, instinctive rhythm.
It’s always a gamble buying one that early, but it’s paid off in spades and my only regret is that I don’t have a farm to take ALL the LPs I run into!
Here’s a few pics of him, aside from his unfortunate tendency to look like he’s about to deliver, I kind of like the doodle bug (his nickname). Also he is a carbon copy of dad, or at least he was when they were both at the same farm, I saw mom and dad and dad appears to be prepotent for type in his case.
The first two pics are Lido at shows this year, then a pic of Lido Palace and finally, my Lido the day I bought him home. That, uh, was as much energy as he has had too date. Good thing I captured it!
West Lido was actually owned by some people I know from work, they have a couple win pictures of him up at the office. Last time I asked about him he’d been claimed, would be very interested in how he’s doing now
DMK, I just ADORE your boy! Yes, West Lido certainly has that canter that seems very rideable. If everything goes well, I’ll be bringing him home Saturday! Thanks everyone for all your information!
Ended up bringing West Lido home yesterday! He trailered great, walked off like he owned the place and settled in without any type of fuss. I’m over the moon about him and his laid back attitude. He’s awesome! Going to ride him today!

Had to dig up this thread because I just picked up a 2 year old by Lido Palace and boy is he fancy! I remembered seeing this thread and had to come re-read it!
