Lime-Sulphur on legs?

My vet recommends trying Lime-Sulphur dip on the legs of my horse. She has had itching and scabby areas on her legs the past couple of years and none of the usual remedies has really worked. She seems to react best to sulphur-based lotions and potions.

If you have used the dip, please tell me your method of mixing and applying and any hints or cautions coming from your experiences. Did it work for your horse?

Thanks in advance.

I mixed per package directions. Applied with a spray bottle. It didn’t work for my horse, but nothing has so I hesitate to disparage the treatment.

It’s miserable stinky stuff. My horse had a skin condition on her face where the bridle sits. Nothing worked on it so we tried the lime sulfur and it did go away, but it may have gone away anyway. She rubbed most of her hair off her face.

If you have chiggers in your pasture that can cause skin scabs like you describe. Permethrin diluted according to directions and soaked into the skin will kill any mites or chiggers.
