My cats are all indoor cats but they do go out on the screened in back porch. My two year old boy cat came in with his tail limp, like there is crimp in it. It’s not paralyzed and it does go straight up but limps over. It’s hard to explain.
I’ve done some research this evening on broken tails but his doesn’t seem to fit the symptoms. He is acting normal but he did act like it hurt when I was looking at it.
Of course I want to try to avoid the emergency vet on Sunday and a holiday, but will take him to my regular vet Monday morning.
Any ideas?
Could one of your other cats bitten him? One of my cats came in dragging her tail and it turned out she was “brewing” an abscess from one of the other cats biting her :mad:. We got it healed up and her tail is fine now.
Tail pull’s are common. They hurt, but usually just antiinfammatories are enough to get them to recover. On occasion, amputation is required.
I dont know why, but we have seen sooo many tail pulls recently.
I wouldnt worry about rushing kitty into hospital, Im sure a wait for a regular appointment is fine.

Not broken, soft tissue injury. He got a steroid shot for swelling, which will also see if his licking is allergy related, so two for one.
Supposed to be resolved in two weeks.
I probably could have not gone to the vet but I didn’t want to take a chance. Now I know what to look for in the future (hopefully, never lol)
