Linebreeding with Silvester (1978 Holsteiner Stallion)

Is there any collective wisdom about linebreeding with Silvester? He is my mare’s great-grandsire and is also in the pedigree of a couple stallions I would be interested in using on her.

Here is my mare’s pedigree: https://www.horsetelex.com/horses/pedigree/1530970/zimplicity

Would Catoki (damsire is Silvester https://www.horsetelex.com/horses/pedigree/38151/catoki) or his son Carrico (https://www.horsetelex.com/horses/pedigree/84538/carrico) be good crosses, based only on the pedigree?

I do see on horsetelex that a couple S-line mares were bred to Catoki with the resulting offspring jumping up to 1.50m, but would like to know if this linebreeding to Silvester is an exception or not.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

I love and have used both stallions listed above, but choosing based on Silvester linebreeding wouldn’t be my driving reason.

Thank you for your response, huntcup! I was hoping to find out if it’s a bad idea to double up on Silvester. I wouldn’t be choosing these stallions because of the Silvester blood, but would like to use one of them if linebreeding SIlvester isn’t frowned upon/shown to cause issues.

There isn’t any problem with your mare because she is on a Hanoverian Stamm, and her sire is on a Hann. Stamm. In this instance the only common Stallion is Silvester.

You can’t go wrong breeding a Catoki these days.
