Liquid Topical Cortisone - Trying to Make Home-made Equishield IBH Spray

This is the greatest fly spray for itchy horses. It has hydrocortisone .5%. But unfortunately its too pricey for our long hot summers. I’m looking for liquid topical cortisone in order to make my own. I’m only finding liquid topical cortisone in dog sprays, and they are usually in 4oz bottles. So again, too pricey for use on a horse all summer. Any ideas? There are so many bulk topical hydrocortisone creams on amazon. I can’t get a pound of it super cheap. Any ideas about liquid hyrocortisone that I could make into a spray?
Thanks

if you are in such a situation where the horse needs cortisone, it is more likely better dealt with systemically, from the inside. More efficient, more targeted and more economical.

Plus lowers your chronic exposure to cortisone which must be a consideration

Systemically I am doing zyrtec, flax and quercetin. I just love the idea of the IBH spray, which is a fly spray with cortisone.

Ask your vet to Rx a bottle of dex injectible, and then add that to your dup of this spray? It’s dead cheap. A little will go a long way.

And here’s a steroid dose conversion chart to inform your dose:

I love that stuff too but are you using it as FLY SPRAY? I don’t think it’s intended to be used that way. I spray it just on the itchy areas (my horse rubs his tail despite oral supplements and allergy injections-- he’s highly reactive to insect bites) and then use a regular fly spray everywhere else. I don’t think it’s really intended for use whole body, as a fly spray.
