Litter Box suggestions for cat who sprays (in box)?

I love Bryan the Cat dearly, but he has this frustrating habit of spraying in his litter box. He always uses the litter box, but when he sprays, it sometimes leaks through the gap where the top and bottom of the box connect, and then I am left with a leaking litter box. I just got two new litter boxes to replace his old ones, and something about the connection is not as airtight, and it leaked the first time he used one.

Any litter box recommendations or other suggestions are appreciated!

One of my cats likes to be as close to the edge or corner of the litter box as possible. Thus, she often peed outside by accident.

I bought a 110 quart Sterilite container, and left the top off. She has to get on a step stool then climb down into the box, but it solved the issues for me. In addition, I cut about 1/3 off one edge of the lid and now I’ve got a covered litter box. Cost: about $13.

eta: I cut 1/3 of the SHORT edge.

They have litterboxes that aren’t covered, but just have high sides that are one piece as well.

Might be something worth pursuing.

With us, even the high side pan does not help I end up folding a piece of paper towel and wrapping it around the lip when I change/scoop the box. A little gross, but better that it absorb into the paper towel than trickle down to the floor.

Same problem here:D There.was a recent thread about a top entering box that I noted, but now can’t find. HELP SOMEBODY! It sounded great…

You could always train him to use the toilet!!!

Our cats would do that, but we lucked out and found a box for about $25 at PetCo that so far hasn’t leaked OUT; I just take a Clorox wipe and clean the edge of the lid and top lip of the box.

Have you tried the ones that look like an egg? I know they are pricey, but worth looking into, for at least one of the boxes maybe?

I miss having my cats, but I don’t miss the boxes one damn bit.

My brother has the round-the-corner litterboxes, they keep the dogs from getting into it. They are pretty clean. This is it: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4017038 I can see room for leakage there if he has good aim though! LOL

I put a rubberized crib pad under the low litterboxes, it catches any drips before they get to the floor.

THATS IT! Thanks!

There is a thread on that-some of us have used a simple rubbermaid tub with a hole cut in the top (or other upgrades ) so choose what you think will work!

My cats have loved having just big huge rubbermaid tubs even without a top as long as they can jump in/out.

Thank you so much for your ideas!
