Live Feed of the 2019 Maclay Final

I want Ava to win sooooooo bad!!! She deserves to win a final. She has been so consistent and ALMOST won so many finals for years now.

I’ve been so impressed with her and with that horse this year. He’s really stepped up to the plate for an 8 year old!

To test: (reverse order of preference)

156 Ellie Yeager
98 Sophie Gochman
95 Hannah Hoch
71. Charlise Casas
79 Emma Fletcher
92 Ava Stearns

Ellie Yeagers hand gallop was so good!

I have been rooting for Ava all season. I had her as the winner in the USET, she knocked on the door all season. She sits so quietly and gives a tactful and deliberate ride to a young horse who is precocious but who looked a little bit of his age today in round 2. I think she just nailed that test to the wall. GO AVA GO!

I’d move Elli straight up to 2nd and Emma 3rd. Emma’s enormous adorable moose of a horse needs to be ridden a little more packaged together than the rest of the pack so he doesn’t leave two steps out without trying, but she looked slow in her work off.

Were the commentators seeing the track from the same angle as the rest of us, do we know?

Ava’s on top in my book.

Definitely Ava. Then maybe Emma. Ellie moved up for sure. Sophie maybe 4th?

I think Ava wins, Emma 2nd, Sophie 3rd, Ellie 4th, Charlise 5th, and Hannah 6th. Emma landing the lead was slick, but Ava’s halt was better - looking at who is judging I think it goes to Ava. They all rode great - probably the best final of the season!

I have it 1. Ava 2. Emma 3. Ellie 4. Sophie.

What great rides! I think I would have had Tanner Korotkin in the workoff. I thought his rides were very good.

Sam Walker sounds like a good kid, didn’t want to say anything bad about anyone.

So after the test who moved positions? I suck and can’t remember names.

Ellie moved up 3, Emma moved down 2, Charlise up 1 or 2? Not sure if any others. The judges rewarded bold riding (I think Emma moved down because she didn’t seem to ride forward in the middle of her test which was otherwise lovely, and they rewarded Ellie’s bold hand gallop.)

I just looked up at post #143 and figured out who in the top 6 moved around.

Well, he is Canadian, after all.

Plus I think it is a little bit of a test of tactfulness when these kids come in to do the commentary on their peers. It’s great to have their perspective, but it can put them in a little bit of an awkward position.

Congrats to all of them! I was not able to watch very much today, but I hope I can catch up on the videos. It’s always fun to see the cream rise to the top at the end of a long day.

Will there be a replay? Today was my son’s birthday so I was pretty busy.

I have to give a shout-out to Shownet for their coverage.

I don’t know what they did, but I have never had a live feed NOT freeze at some point—this one never did (and it was free!)

It added great enjoyment to my sloth Sunday! HA!
