Live Feed of the 2019 Maclay Final

Is there a replay? It just shows not streaming but no replay info like usef normally has.

Did they award a best equitation horse?

EQ Sports is doing replays of the Maclay. Kind of weird how to get there, on the EQSports site it has a red banner that says NHS live and if you click it video is of the Maclay starting at the initial course walk and goes thru to the awards ceremony - all one really long 10 hour video. I do have a silver subscription, not sure if you’d be able to see this if you have no account. [https://eqsports.net/live]

They did not as far as I could tell.

Interesting info from Beacon Hill/Wendy Ritter Peralta this morning - the horse that had originally been entered for Catalina Peralta had to be scratched on Sunday morning. They scrambled and Erin Gibbs offered her horse “Limitless” for Catalina to show in the Maclay. Having never ridden the horse prior, Catalina schooled him for about half an hour on Sunday morning and then went in and made the Top 25. It was the horse’s first major indoor final too. Pretty neat story - the full explanation was shared on the Beacon Hill facebook page if you want to check it out!

That only furthers the admiration I feel for the young riders who participated in the Maclay yesterday.

That was not an easy course, and everyone seemed to give it their best shot. Some riders were obviously farther along in their riding, however it seemed like there was something that every one of them could learn from that course.

Once again I am in awe of the equitation horses. They are such troopers. To me, they are the equine version of boy/girl scouts.

The commentary was great. Very informative. Having an R judge actually thinking out loud about what she was seeing, was a very refreshing change from previous years.

Congratulations to Ava on a well deserved win and to all the riders that tried so hard to do their best.

As an eventer I’m not your typical eq fan but I tuned in a bit this weekend and enjoyed it. First, it took some less stellar rides to really contrast how good the seamless ones were. The commentary was helpful and I loved it when the judge said she’d prefer a horse in a snaffle with no martingale.

I watched about 20 riders in the first round then Ava and I sat up because she was so clearly in tune and in control of herself, the horse and the course. I wasn’t surprised to see her in the second round and workoff. Well done.

Loved the 3rd placed rider’s confident boldness on the hand gallop, I think she did it the best of them all.
