Llanarth Ponies - tell me more

Just wondering what peoples overall impression of the Llanarth personality is. Just curious for first hand experiences not hear say, please.

Are the kind tempered, easy going, naughty, do you see them pulling kids around a lot?

Overall movement on a Llanarth pony?

Thank you!

I have three ponies out of the Llanarth mares, Llanarth Rhapsody and Llanarth Gala. The two out of Rhapsody are stallions and full brothers. They are the quietest, easy to handle, gentleman anyone could desire. The other out of Gala is a mare - she too is quiet and the sweetest girl. She is perhaps more sensitive than the boys, but maybe just because she is a mare. All three are by Carolinas Red Fox.

I owned Charlotte (Llanarth Senator x April Dance) for several years before selling her and thought she was very easy to be around. No vices whatsoever on the ground. After she was broken she required a more experienced ride and as a result hasn’t shown her full potential.

Llanarth Senator stands at Prue Richardson’s place in Canada. Prue can give you much more information on the Llanarth pony disposition.

Do you mean the welsh Llanarth ponies or the BRP Llanarth ponies?

I have Llanarth Debonair (BRP stallion) here at my farm. He is owned by Prue Richardson, but I have him on lease 2010-2011. He has a wonderful temp. and he passes that on to all his foals. I know some BRP’s get a bad rep. for being too hot but Debonair is an exception to that. He is a very good boy and a lovely mover.

Also have a Llanarth Senator daughter here - total sweetheart. Loves attention. She is a broodmare, so I can’t tell you what she is like undersaddle. Have been in contact with a few other Senator daughters, and they were exactly the same, very lovey dovey. Not to mention fantastic movers & jumpers.

Look at Land’s End Wye Me - he is out of Llanarth Leading Lady.

I have a son of Llanarth Senator out of an imported B mare. She is typey, and welshy, and not as quiet as a hunter could be. The son is sensible, lively, but quiet, if that makes sense. He is but a yearling, however I believe he will make up to be a very nice small hunter pony.

I have a Senator mare as well. She is super sweet but very hot. She is alpha mare and lets everyone know it! She is very spicey when in season but she’s gorgeous so it’s worth it. Her under saddle career was cut short due to some poor training early on in her career. She is very sensitive under saddle and too smart for her own good. Even though she isn’t an ideal hunter pony I love her to bits.

She is in-foal now and will remain a broodie.
