Load of T/A (90% Timothy) for 322/ton (@ $8/bale): Ocala SHARE anyone???

I’ve been talking to a lot of hay producers and this one is very solid. I’d like to get a load and forget about hay issues for while, especially in this drought, so I’m eager to find folks to come in with me on this. I’ve got the possibility of two barns, plus mine, already, but they each have limited storage. I’d be getting a couple hundred bales.

I’ve asked for a picture of the hay and would also forward information about the hay producer’s website to whoever might be interested in joining us. I should mention that this producer also has/has had other types and grades of hay, some as inexpensive as $175/ton (about 250/ton delivered), so I’m thinking this might be a very good supplier to get to know for the future, too.

PM me for details. Thanks!

sounds perfect

My barn is looking to get some square bales in for the whole summer instead of leaving the round bales out in the pasture and letting the horses waste it all. How much are you looking to split? I am not sure how much we can keep, we have an extra barn that should be able to load about …half a semi load? Try to get me some pictures of the hay, we don’t want to waist our money on not so great stuff. I will check with the stable manager and see how much she thinks we would be able to hold down here.

TBj, I did get pictures of the load I mentioned above–to many stems, alas. But I’m working on a load of straight orchard at $334/ton. I didn’t check to see if your email is in your profile, so if it isn’t, PM me and I’ll forward to you the pictures and details of that load, which looks quite nice, too.

…Got it. Sent you an email with pics.

I’m currently in Ocala and might be interested in the straight orchard for my sale yearlings. Since I have pasture, I’d probably only need 50 bales. In the fall, I’ll be looking for 300 - 400 bales so keep me in mind then also.

Do you know if it is first cutting from this year, or is it last years hay. Also, where is it from?

Thanks!

Where is the hay from? Peg

The gentleman I spoke to is Calvin Howard of Production Acres (www.productionacres.com): “Located midway between Atlanta GA and Lexington KY in the Tennessee Southern Highlands, our family farmlands encompass nearly 2500 private managed acres, 1600 of which are solely dedicated to hay production. Commercial hay clients include Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede’s in TN and SC and the University of TN Vet School…”

It’s 90/10 T/A, 750 bales on the truck, a little less if they bring their forklift to help unloading. Phone no. is 423-346-7909. PLEASE let me know if you like what you hear and could help add to enough numbers to get a load down here. I’ve struck out with so many others.

It won’t work for me…he’d have to swing north to catch my place. Peg

I would be interested in 50-75 bales depending on how it looks. I just don’t feed much hay once the rain starts as I have plenty of pasture. I assume it is delivered by semi?

Did they send you pictures? I didn’t see that particular hay on the website. Do you know when it was cut?
