Lodging near Wellington?

Looking to spend a weekend spectating at Wellington… Any ideas on reasonably priced lodging (hotels, rooms for rent, etc.) would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Try the Hampton Inn on Lake Worth at the turnpike. In season it still may be expensive but not like the Wellington Hampton Inn! If you want a chain hotel, less expensively, but farther away, look at the airport hotels mostly near Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. I don’t know what the Royal Hotel is like, but it’s on Southern Blvd and close to Wellington.

I like the Hampton Inn on Vista, which is just off Okeechobee Blvd. (I think it’s called Hampton Inn West Palm Beach) It’s walking distance to some restaurants, a Walgreens, and a Walmart Market if you want to eat in your room (fridge & microwave).

It’s also a straight shot down Okeechobee to get to Loxahatchee, and is a short hop to Global. I’ve stayed there the last three times I have gone.

I stay at the DoubleTree on PGA Blvd. Takes about 20 minutes to get to Global…and the cost is between $100 - $180/night, clean and comfy!

OMG, you guys are AWESOME!@ THanks and keep ’ em coming. MUCHO APPRECIATED ! It is going to be -5 this weekend in Northern Ohio - I LOVE the snow… but also kinda excited about feeling the WARMTH…
.

Saw this thread on the main forum page - Don’t get TOO excited about warmth! This weekend is supposed to be chilly! (But I know, I know, chilly is relative. Our high of 70/low of 45 will still feel quite tropical compared to -5!!!)

Second the recommendations of looking just outside wellington for a hotel. If I were you, I’d even look toward the beach. It’s only ~30 minutes from the water to the Global showgrounds.

Hope you enjoy your visit!

You might look into Couchsurfing.com. My cousin used this site to get free lodging along the way on a cross-country roadtrip. Basically you create a profile, type in where you want to go, and contact people on there who are accepting guests. They usually have a spare room (or at very least a couch) to crash on during your stay. For the heck of it, I looked up Wellington, and there is a member who actually has her horse in her profile picture so at least some of the members are horsepeople!

I stay at the Hampton Inn Lake Worth. It’s a short drive to everything, and usually far less than the one in Wellington. The breakfast is decent and the wi-fi works well.

When I went down a few years ago I stayed at a cute hotel in West Palm Beach. It was about 25 minutes from GDF, but a cool little historic hotel, and close to restaurants. And I could go running on the beach.

Also, check out airbnb.com

Yep just going to post airbnb.com it’s like couchsurfing but slightly less sketchy!!

I used this method on Priceline to get a room at the Hilton Singer Island on the beach for $125/night. Actually I think it was $115 but parking was $10 a day. Anyway, it takes a little time but if you have the patience it is worth the effort. Just pay close attention to the zones.

And there’s always Royal Inn…

I always stay at the Royal Inn but it usually books up fast

I stay there too. But, the last visit was in the rooms above the Pizza Hut and I have to say I was embarrassed that I shared the recommendation with a friend. The room was clean but a little sketchy. I hope when I go down next month I’m in a different part of the hotel.

Thanks so much, all. It’s -1 here and getting down to 10 below Saturday night, so by the time I get to FL (2 weeks), ANYTHING will feel warmer!
