London Tan Tack

I probably will get slated for having no taste, but I love London tan tack. Would love to treat myself to some when my mare is riding again.
So what brands to you rate? Where do you buy yours from?
Thanks in advance.

Not the most common of colors!!!

I have a Stubben Scout saddle in brown. The color used to be called “Honey” but now it’s called “Tobacco.”

Aside: Hey, what a contrast! One color cures and makes things taste good. The other kills and smells bad.

In any event, it’s a very comfortable general purpose saddle with 10 D-rings for carrying stuff. I’ve had mine for about 15 years and it’s well broken in. It fits a reasonable range of conformations and works well with our gaited Marchadors.

The paddock boots and puttees I wear when I’m doing some historical impressions (from Dehner) are London Tan. I can’t say they match the saddle precisely but are very close.

I’m sure there are other alternative but this is a good one!!!

Best of luck in your search.

I love it too!! I got a super light tan bridle but sadly it’s already pretty dark from oiling…

A lot of the very old Stubbens still in use look like they were honey tan new and have a nice patina now. I think Stubben and Passier offer 4 colors in everything, different saddles and bridles: black, dark brown, chestnut, and golden tan.

I can imagine very cheap or very new tan looking a bit garish, but I doubt the budget brands offer it.

I do think it’s going to be a challenge not to have the strap goods especially darken over time with conditioning.

I bought one when I was on vacation in Switzerland. I’m not using it anymore but it sure is pretty…

I picked up a london tan saddle on a good deal, and I like it, but ive decided to sell it and the colour is one of the reasons.
Its SOOOO hard to find the matching colour anything, it took me weeks to find the stirrup leathers, and then they were expensive.
Then I realised I have no girth, breastplate or bridle to match, and I cant get the bridle or the girth I use in that colour brown anyway, its only available in havana.
Ive also not seen the modified bridge breastplate in that colour, but there might be something available.

Its beautiful, and if my horse wasnt growing it might be worth the investment.

Nobody wanted to buy mine when I had it up for sale.
