Long Haired Cats - update she's home!

Came home yesterday & she was worth the wait! She’s super sweet. Purrs & chirps non-stop. She quickly figured out steps. She loves the TV (never saw one), but is scared of the clothes dryer (gotta figure out how to remove the buzzer at the end of the cycle). She’s quite non confrontational with my other cats. She just goes about her business & when it gets quiet, I find her fast asleep.

She figured out the bed too! She’s beautiful! Have you decided on a name?

Be aware that sometimes, grooming can get them overstimulated (attacking the glove). Just keep her sessions short and I bet she comes to enjoy it.

What a gorgeous kitten.

I get it on the names. I rescued my cat last year. She is older but her name at the shelter was Angelica…that is a mouthful. While I was checking her out, the woman told me her name was really Angel but they already had an Angel on site hence the Angelica. She has gone aback to Angel but I like to call her Angel Woo. Seems like half the time I call her Emmy (my old cat’s name).

I have one of these:

Bought it from Jeffers, but noticed that TSC carries it, too. It’s meant for cats, but I’m using it on my long-haired little dog with an undercoat. Works very well.

So far she’s Beatrice, or Bee Bee. Remembering her name is a different story . Thank goodness she comes to literally anything I say…cause it’s usually, “Hey you, kitty kitty!”

She LOVES everything, windows, rugs, furniture & especially having her own box!

OK. Because I have lost my mind we have this little dude coming to live with us. His little group of friendly ferals was attacked by loose dogs & both his siblings passed :frowning: A friend who is very involved in cat rescue & medical fosters was notified by a neighbor whose security camera roll captured the attack. Friend & her husband went over right away & managed to grab little dude.

He needs a name. We"ve all been referring to him as The Void in the meantime!

Years ago I has a long-haired cat named Sooty. He’s be happy if his name passed on to a new kitten!

He’s gorgeous! I hate that his siblings didn’t make it but I sure am glad he did.

I love black cats! And tabbys and calicos and torties… :joy:

How about Lucky? Or Snowball, because he had a snowball’s chance of making it.

I miss my black kitty so much.

Hard to tell from the pic: friend reports that it looks like he will be either long haired or an “extremely floofy” medium haired cat. She and her husband are truly amazing. Not only did they swoop the Void up out of danger, but they also rushed his mortally wounded sibling to the ER vet so that poor kitty could be euthanized instead of slowly dying out in the woods. :broken_heart:

Friend has 7 black cats that are semi-permanent fosters and tries not to duplicate names whenever possible. Makes the name a little trickier! Offhand, I know she has a Raven, Soot, and Binx. Will have to look up the rest. Before we knew we’d be adopting him, DD16 had suggested Ozzy (Prince of Darkness). Now she’s worried that will be too confusing since we have a possum named Ozzy. (Not a pet, he just lives under the shed in the winter! lol) I suggested Pyewacket. Neither child liked it. DD14 suggested Hamlet or Bingley.

I’m partial to Edward (The Black Prince) with the nickname Eddie. My father’s name is Edward. Plus historians now think that the Black appellation may have had more to do with Prince Edward’s ferocity in battle than the color of his armor. And the Void is definitely a fighter!

Lucky kitty. (His pic is squeeee cute!)

Kohl? Coal? Midnight? Knight? Edward and why involves a lot of explaining. I like Snowball - it’s contrary and I like @BrownDerby’s reasoning.

TheDBYC, good on you for taking him in. What a little cutie :heartbeat:. I’m not sure if mine will be long haired after all! Her hair feels like angora & so far, she isn’t a huge shedder.

Her name was Beatrice & then Bee Bee. She frequently runs around at breakneck speed, with no regard to humans, so I’ve taken to calling her BEEP BEEP now Lol!

She plays hard & then crashes wherever she is. She’s the strangest cat! She discovered the washer & spun herself around in the drum for a good 10 minutes yesterday, before taking a nap in the washer. I’m now paranoid about laundry & pull everything put before running it. Then, today, she was flying in & out of her tunnel…and then just plopped. Kittens are great entertainment!
