Long Haul Shippers?

I have the opportunity to go to Ocala in early November, and will hopefully be coming home with a new pony. 🤞🏼 Well, not quite literally, hence the post. I’m looking for reviews and experiences with long haul shippers who run the NY—> FL route in the winter. I’m reaching out to Judge Manning, Luken’s, and Brookledge to get an idea of how often they have trucks going and a rough idea of cost.

Any other shippers that I should be looking into? Any I should steer clear of?

I have used three haulers and I like Nobody’s Business Horse Transport. They go straight through, no pickups with smaller trucks, then unloading and reloading at a hub. I really like the way the drivers handle my horse and the horses already on the truck. The way I have seen other drivers handle horses in front of me, I definitely do not want them handling a switch to another truck with no owners around. Only caveat, it is a real pain trying to get a callback and commitment to a specific date with Nobody’s Business. For me, it is well worth it. Also, spring for a box stall no matter which carrier you go with.

C&E has merged with Brookledge.

As C&E they hauled my WB from Davie,FL to IN 10yrs ago & he was treated like royalty, arrived in 36H, stepped off the trailer fresh & rested.
No changing trailers - the air-ride semi he arrived on was too huge to fit onto my drive, had to unload him from the road < quiet 2-lane side road.

Both Tony Aprile Horse Transport and C & E are great! Tony Aprile updated me 2 or 3 times in the trip up from Ocala to IL in a 24H trip.

I had a fabulous experience with Holly Hill Transport. Highly recommend checking in with them!

Creech is based in Ocala.
In the winter it’s very easy to get a ride north or south for your horse.

Judge Manning and Lukens are both great. Starting in November most shippers will have weekly trucks on that route. It’s super easy to get a spot with a few days notice. I’d expect to pay as a rough estimate $1200, although I’ve had it both lower and higher at times.

We have used Creech on multiple occasions and have been very happy with them. Their drivers were very experienced, calm and good with horses.

My friend has used Johnson Horse Transportation for the last 5 years from PA to Wellington, FL and back. She has been very happy.

She has been, but she switched to Nobody’s Business last spring.

Spring was a bit odd with Covid-19. That may have been just a scheduling quirk. I am not sure who she is planning on using to go down this winter.

I have been very happy with Equine Express but they may not run a direct route for you. Years ago I used Blue Chip, which is based out of NYS, to haul about 1.5-1.75K miles and I was very happy with them. The drivers called on the road, were experienced, the route was direct and my horse arrived in great condition.
