Long legs and the modern horse - List the stallions that will get you there

He is a really lovely stallion.

Sir Donnerhall.

First video is of an Espri mare, pulled from the field and lunged for the first time in five years. Powerful mare, scored an overall “8” with the Hanoverian Verband. Not the type that would get that score today.

Daughter by Sir Donnerhall. More refined, longer legs. I would not want anything with longer legs than this filly though. You can tell they get in her way a bit (-: Once under saddle she was fine but finding her balance took some time.

Also have a quite tall Hanoverian mare with "shorter front legs…well the problem is really that her hind legs are too long, not the the fronts legs are short. Many horses are built like this. It works quite well for the majority of them but is not ideal.
From a dressage rider’s perspective: That filly in the second video is absolutely gorgeous! Her gaits look like they would be so much fun to ride!

…heck, even Feiner Stern frequently passed a shorter front leg).
No kidding! We have a mare out of a Feiner Stern daughter that truly has the shortest cannon bones I’ve ever seen on a warmblood! We purchased her early this year and don’t know much of her history - sadly, she is bowed on both front legs. Incredibly well bred, but had ended up in a university’s riding program. Someone’s really, really pounded on this poor mare. She’s really well bred, but definitely more “rectangular” and older style. She is in foal to Edelweiss, so should be something really spectacular.

Sir Gregory is linebred x2 to DH and he most definitely does NOT have a long back. So it worked in his case…

Wasnt there a recent auction horse who was donnerhall x 5? (or x4)

SD can pass on a long back. He did it with my R mare so won’t do that one again even with the longer legs.

Does anyone think that Wolkentanz II adds length to front legs?

No.

I put Weltmeyer and his sons, Rubinstein, Donnerhall, etc. all with the “normal” to slightly short leg dept.

The SH’s, Jazz, BW, etc. are the ultra-modern, long-legged type. And Rembrandt. As I said before, to MY eye he looked modern way back when.
