long synthetic anatomic girth (but not wintec/cair)?

Does such a thing really not exist?

My horse has large, high withers, a dippy back, and a forward girth groove. Sigh. Last year, I rode in a borrowed Wintec Isabell Cair dressage saddle with a leather anatomic girth. (something like this.) My horse didn’t really like the saddle - the cair gave him pressure sores on his back - but he had lovely big shoulder movement with the girth, and the saddle didn’t slide forward at all.

This year, I bought a Thorowgood endurance saddle that fits him beautifully, but when I use a regular girth, it goes in a diagonal line from the billets to the girth groove and pulls the saddle forward to press against the back of his withers. I tried using the point billet, but he hated that - the pressure of the tree made shoulders and withers sore, and it tipped the saddle forward.

So I’m thinking the anatomic girth is the way to go, but for the life of me, I can’t find a regular-length synthetic anatomic girth except the wintec one, and considering my previous bad experience with cair, I’m not going that route again.

I can’t be the only endurance rider with this problem, can I?

ETA: Still doing some hunting, thinking about trying a mohair girth as well… but I did find this: Tekna Pressure-Eze Girth

I wonder if the wide part would keep the girth from sliding forward as much? Has anyone used a Tekna girth before? wondering about the quality since I’ve never heard of the brand…

I had a wintec girth years ago and hated it. I have 2 Thorogood saddles. An all purpose and the endurance saddle. My horses seemed to be built somewhat like yours. The girth area is forward. I bought a Thorogood girth and tried it out on one of my horses and it worked great so I bought another for my other horse and that is also working. The girths are shaped, so are a bit wider in the middle and narrow behind the elbow. They have elastic on each end with rollers and are not expensive. I bought one on line and the other from Dover Saddlery. i was able to get black to match my saddles.

BHLH, I was looking for the exact same thing and the Wintec was the only one; and I didn’t want CAIR (and had heard bad reviews of the design). So, I’m using a leather anatomic girth. Those girths really work well for the forward girth grooves; I wish there were more synthetic options (I could find synthetic dressage length ones, but not long ones).

I’ve been using the Thorowgood girth, and that’s what has been pulling the saddle forward. It’s a shame, because I really like the girth material - I wish it came in an anatomic model.

I borrowed a string girth I’m going to try, if that doesn’t work I may consider the Tekna. The leather anatomic girth is my last resort - maybe I’ll see if I can get a waffle cover for it.

I use a contoured girth made by Thorowgood - the “Airoform” and it seems to work very well for me. I’ve been using it for just over a year. It cleans up well and keeps my saddle in place. I know Dover and a few other stores carry the girth up to 30" long

The only hassle I have is getting girth loops custom made to fit over it so that I can easily attach the breast collar.

Actually, that’s the one that has been pulling my saddle forward! It’s a shame, because I really like it - it’s so easy to clean and my horse was comfortable in it, except for the part when the saddle was on his withers

My new non-slip pad came in last week - the Barnsby Grip Pad – and I’ve been using it with an old string girth I found in the basement. The new combo seems to be doing the trick, so I’ll probably buy a good mohair girth so he doesn’t get galled by the old string girth of questionable origin. For anyone considering a non-slip pad, I’m loving the Barnsby!

Sorry, I misunderstood - I thought you hadn’t tried Thorowgood’s countour girth, but rather their regular dressage girth. My mistake!

Action Rider Tack has several contoured dressage girths listed on their website. As far as mohair girths go, I’ve been debating over whether to try their Montana Cincha mohair girth.

Edited to add: I like Poly Pads as far as non-slip pads go. It’s hard to find shaped Polypads, but the few I have are very durable!

Hope this helps!
