looking at bumper pull straight load trailers--how many escape doors?

Granted I will likely just deal with the trailer i have and see about rehabbing it, but I cant help looking at new trailers. Comparing models, (middle quality) some only have an escape door on one side. I am use to two doors, one on each side, plus the one that has a lot of good things about it-has the door on the passenger side.

Is one escape door a deal breaker? And is there a reason to put it opposite the driver side? Maybe so brainless driver --such as me - does not get themselves killed on side of road, or is that a design flaw?

Thoughts appreciated.

I am guessing so the door opens it is not in the face of oncoming traffic.

I’d much prefer two escape doors. The only newly made trailers I’ve seen with only one escape door are the pass-throughs. There is a door from the horse area forward into the tack room, and then you exit through the tack room door. They typically have mangers in front of the horses with saddle areas underneath. I won’t consider them because I don’t like my horses to have something to whack their knees on, but lots of people love them.

I strongly prefer 2 escape doors. Not only for convenience, but also because having them both open during loading makes the trailer seem more inviting and less like a dark, scary cave!

I prefer two escape doors myself but I certainly do not find it a design flaw to only have one escape door. Just another way to make a different trailer and maybe save a little money on the construction.

Echoing others: two escape doors are great for ventilation and extra light when loading. But one escape door isn’t a flaw or problem in my eyes, regardless of what side it is on.
