Looking for a Double bridle with the buckles on the crown -

Can you help me locate a double bridle with the buckles on the crown piece, but that is NOT rolled leather cheekpieces? My horse has a big head and broad brow, and I prefer the look of flat leather.

I prefer to purchase a quality bridle that will last for years…

The only one I found like I described is the Otto Schumacher Florenz: http://store.skylandssaddlery.com/index.php/bridles/otto-schumacher-florenz-double-bridle.html

I also found Passier Humbertus Schmidt, but it looks like you cannot separately adjust the bradoon and Weymouth bits?? http://www.passier.com/en/bridles/double-bridles/hubertus-schmidt/ If the bits are both on one same buckle, then FORGET that!
Other than those two bridles with the buckles on the crown, I could only locate the rolled leather version.

I wanted to locate some other choices, before springing $699 for the OS (without reins!), and I’m surprised it is difficult style to find. Is there something old fashioned about my desired bridle?

Thank you tack afficionados and tack store people for helping me shop.

If you decide on the OS (or probably the Passier I would guess) you can save a lot by ordering through Calevo. The price is even less than advertised on the Calevo site as from their advertised price they will take off VAT and you will probably also save 15% on top of that.

I’m seeing 435 euro for the OS including both sets of reins, so if my calculations are right your total US would be $325 plus shipping. When I have ordered, I ordered express shipping for I think $35 and I received my stuff in two days.

BTW, I’m big on buying from my local tack shop even if there is a price difference. But for several hundred dollars, I can’t justify not ordering from Calevo.

Why not consider a mono crown? Personally, I don’t like all that weight on the poll.

Have you looked into Jerry’s Bridles? There you can customize everything. I have never heard anything negative about Jerry’s tack.

Pana Cavallo makes a nice one. I think that they are sold through Trilogy. Here is the only link I could find to it.

I have one by BR.nl (Dutch Brand) with a lovely well padded square raised noseband that I love.

OP: I do not like the crown on the OS bridle - prefer to have the ends in a “tunnel”. Much tidier look.

I have the one described in post #4; it came with my horse and I’m guessing it is close to 8 years old. Black is faded on the underside of crown and noseband, but otherwise in really nice shape. I would absolutely buy this again.

Dover carries the Passier Libra - the adjustment for the curb is on the crown. I got this one two years ago, and it has held up well with use 4-5 days per week.

it might be more than you want to spend, but I love the Hennig. it has buckles on both sides of the padded crown piece.

I clicked on size but the dbl with buckles on the head was only available in Cob. Do they carry other sizes of this OS bridle do you think?

Macrider has lovely doubles with that configuration.

Thats a sharp looking bridle but there seems to be just so much stuff on the poll

Agree on top has a nice flat heavier leather and I think the buckles are enclosed

There are a few other models of the PanaCavallo, including this one: http://www.saddlefit.com/Elite_Double.html
Quality and fit of these bridles are VERY good, and they’re much less expensive than, for example, the Hennig.

I think you can email or call… I know that they are updating their website and so there isn’t a lot of information right now. I think that they do carry it in all sizes…

415-830-6349 is the US number. I would imagine they would only answer doing German business hours, though. But I’m not sure. Good luck!

435 euros is $491 dollars at today’s interbank exchange rate. 1.13 dollars to the euro.

Yes

And if you follow the rest of my math there, as I wrote in my post, you subtract The value added tax, as that is already included in the price, and then you take off 15%, depending on the price you pay due to their discount system.

It’s a pretty good deal, and I save a lot of money ordering through them.

ETA: 435 - 15% discount and subtracting 19% VAT = $299.50. The exchange rate on the day I wrote my post was 1.086, giving a total USD $325.25.

OP-I talked to them about something I’m interested in and asked them about your bridle as well.

If you are interested, you need to send them an email with the item code asking them if they can get it in your size. They will then contact the manufacturer and get it for you.

Good luck.

Jerry’s Harness. He’ll make you anything you want and the leather is wonderful, as is the workmanship.
