looking for consignment sale barn

We have several nice, young hunter prospects that we would like to send to a reputable sale barn. Any recommendations?

Location will help people give good input.

The phrase “consignment” to me implies you expect the trainer to carry expenses or provide free training in exchange for a cut of the sale price. That is a pretty rare deal these days, at least with a quality program.

East coast preferred, thank you.

If you don’t mind the Midwest, pm me. I know a fabulous barn!

Chad Keenum has a sales barn in The Plains, VA He always has some really nice horses and seems to get horses sold quickly. Its not a consignment barn, you would be responsible for expenses/training till the horse is sold and paying commission. https://www.facebook.com/CkSporthorses/

Give Paige Cade a call. She’s in Purcellville, VA, very reasonably priced and phenomenal with young horses. I have a share of a very, very nice young hunter with her now and had my personal horse in training with her for a few months. https://www.facebook.com/countryfoxfarm/?fref=ts

Have you looked into David Hopper in Amenia, NY? I am not sure if he takes horses on consignment, but all he does is buy and sell, and after about 40 years in the business I’d say he’s reputable. He gets a lot of buyers in all price ranges looking at the inventory in his barn. But he is not likely to take it on for “training” while it is in his barn. it will get ridden, but he will likely want to sell what you have to offer, not what his riders can make out of it.

Four Seasons Horse Sales in Pittstown, NJ does a fabulous job.

They specialize in developing and selling young hunters and run a very kind, horse-friendly program. They are one of the only programs I would send a horse to and not feel the need to visit or check up (although they welcome owners, of course).

I have known them for years and they recently did a fantastic job marketing and selling one of mine.
