I’m wondering if what I am looking for even exists, or if I’m reading descriptions wrong.
I’m so sick of doing in hand work (ground driving) with two lunge lines. they are too long, and WAY too easy to get tangled up in.
Normal riding reins on average are 60" (5ft) long. I’m looking for lines that are 12-15ft long and can’t find them 
Every set I find says 24ft
I’d prefer to spend under $100 unless they are a really NICE pair with rubber inlay and stops or something.
Am I looking for an item that doesn’t exist? I dont’ know how long the reins are for hackney 2 wheel cart horses but they can’t be 24ft long, can they?
Are you looking for a set of long reins or for driving reins?
Ordinarily long reins are 24ft + long and because if you’re going to long rein on a circle 12ft wouldn’t be enough.
I’m thinking you need to learn how to hold and handle them so you don’t get them tangled up.
If its driving reins for once you’re in the carriage then that’s totally different and for a single pony they’d be about 12 feet or 23+ feet for a tandem or team of 4. but you shouldn’t really long rein with reins as short as 12 feet.
So much depends on what you are looking for . . .
Some of the ‘cheap’ >longreins< for ground work are measured total length - from bit to bit
and 24 ft might be that distance
but I agree with T1 - you will most likely find that waaaaay too short
we once bought a cheap cotton longrein (dont remember length) but it put you right behind the horses butt
and unless by ground work, you mean Spanish Riding School type work, you are not gonna like being that close
Remember that the average horse is better than 6 feet from chest to tail and another 2+ feet to the mouth
I use 2 lunge lines now for ground work, but previously we had a nice set made from 30 ft lengths of climbing rope (the flat kind) It was nice cuz it slides nicely thru the rings and doesnt get stuck
Our driving reins for single horse with roadcart are extra long at 16 ft (long horse)
normally you get 14-15 ft
12 ft is for small pony
depending on the cart you drive, you may choose to adjust the length of rein so you dont have a lot of it pooling at your feet
I bought a lovely pair of 14’ nylon long reins off of ebay last year for about $14. Made by “Tough-1”. They’re not luxury, but very serviceable, the first 4’ or so is rolled so it slides easily. They’re the white waxed-cotton look with pleather detail. I really rather like them, though I have disliked other Tough-1 products in the past.
I also have a pair of 14’ black leather jeffries long reins I’m not using.
I find the 14’ reins very handy for ground driving my horse out and about on trails, etc, and not having to babysit a fist full of line. They are too short for working on a circle, but I find quite handy for schooling steering like around pylons, etc. My horse is small at 14.3h.

I use soft cotton matching lunge lines at least 24+, sometimes I wish I could find longer since how can you manuver them in a circle, through cones, etc. with a length only for driving. Are you simply walking behind the horse? I use to think this this was longlining before I really understood the concept. :winkgrin:

OMG, I just realized the ones you pasted are draw reins… i have a set of draw reins collecting dust. i never thought they’d be good for anything, but voila!
The type of work i’m doing is “lippizzan” in hand work seeing as how that is lending itself the best visual. SI down the long wall, to HI down the short wall, etc. When you want to be within 3ft of your horses butt, 2 lunge lines get bulky in your hands and for me, easy to put a leg through a loop.
