Looking for eventing stallions :)

Have three mares that I am looking for stallions for. All TBs. eventing sires needed, prefer cooled over frozen. Prefer bay and chestnuts, but open for the right boy ;). Temperament, train ability, and conformation are the most important

1: Arkadian Rayne, must have a stallion that produces a long well set neck with more suspension in the trot. She has an amazing temperament and is very quiet. Grey, 16.1, but her neck is short.

2: Edge Effect, looking for a larger stallion 16-17+ hands. Must have good temperament. Great movement, needs straighter front legs. Dark bay, 15.1, little long in the barrel.

3: Lustre’s Image. Need a stallion with more suspension, stronger loin, and quickness off the ground at the jump. Big 16.3 so want a smaller 15.3-16.3 stallion. Medium temperament so don’t want anything hot. Bright blood bay, a little thick in the throat latch.

You didn’t say if you were looking for a TB or WB (or other for that matter!) stallion.

If you are considering TBs, please take a look at Sea Accounts. If you are unfamiliar with him, he’s 16.3 1/2, black, 1999, son of Kentucky Derby winner Sea Hero out of a Private Account mare. He successfully completed the 2004 100-day stallion test with the 2nd highest score ever given to a TB in North America. He is licensed by the GOV, ATA and RPSI.

He has competed through 4th level test 2 in dressage and is currently competing at Intermediate with Mike Huber. He and Mike had 4 top 4 finishes at Prelim including two wins in the last six months…and Mike catch rides him (literally a couple of times before an event).

Additionally, he has an incredible temperament and work ethic. If you know any Gold Chip riders, I encourage you to call them and ask them about Cy at shows and in the barn.

Best of all, he’s producing…his oldest are only 8 and he has one CCI* qualified (she was recently sold so not sure what the new owner’s plans are) and one made his mini-prix debut in NY over the weekend and finished 2nd!

If you’re better at searching than I am, there are several recent multi-page threads. I can’t find any of them when I search, but they have tons of suggestions if you can do better than I did!

Do you want a stallion who has specifically evented, or who has strengths your horses lack as far as talent?

For example, my 3 year old’s sire, Oskar II pg was a GP dressage horse bred to be a jumper. My filly shows all signs she could be fabulous as an eventer, but I’ll be using her for dressage. I suspect most Trakehners will be good options, as Molly suggested!

I’m biased toward Tatendrang from having seen some of his youngsters and having purchased my filly from his owner - I just absolutely love her program, which includes him!

Concerto Grosso

Concerto Grosso, a licensed Holsteiner with the AHHA and ISR/OldNA has been producing some lovely eventers. His son, Counterpoint, was the 2011 Reserve Champion USEA West Coast 4yo.YEH with his Amateur Owner and just competed at his first CCI* a few weeks ago. Another youngster who is half-TB has just started his career in NC. Denny Emerson loves CG babies.

At age 15, Concerto started his eventing career with my daughter this winter in Ocala. He had not been shown for over a decade and never crosscountry schooled until three weeks before his first competiton. He went Novice and was in the ribbons.

Concerto is by Concerto II who is by Contender. He is also 1/4 Thoroughbred through his dam sire, Koenigspark xx, who was also approved to provide some “flash”. What I like about CG is that his babies are so willing and friendly which makes them totally amateur friendly. They are good movers and well put together. I have yet to see one that isn’t an improvement on the mare. Two years ago, the only two CG Holsteiner mares presented at the AHHA inspections were champions of their sites with scores of 50 and 49.

His semen ships well and most of his mares conceive on the first shipment if the receiving vet is any good.
