Looking for Experiences with CEM Quarantine Facilities - Unreasonable Expectations?

Hello All!
First time poster, long time lurker!
I recently imported a new horse from overseas (this is my first time importing) and am looking to see if the experience I’m having is unusual or not.

Long story short the communication between myself and the CEM quarantine facility has been painful to try and get updates on the status of my horse. I can’t get any information on his medical status, whether he’s been turned out or not, how he’s behaving (he can be a handful), whether they’ve been able to get the farrier out etc. I requested a daily update on him through the import company and will get a two word response back like ‘all good’. No pictures, videos, or any additional information.

What should my communication expectations be during this process? He has another four weeks of quarantine and I’m honestly very frustrated with the lack of communication…but I don’t know if this is a standard experience or not. Can anyone else who has been through the CEM process provide some feedback?

Thank you!

My experience is only for 3 day quarantine at Newburgh NY before the ARK was built at JFK.

And in those three days I did not hear a peep until the horses were ready to be released. I only shipped over to the EU to compete for the summer with US based horses, and they were all geldings.

I either used Dutta or HFR to fly. Both are very good with communicating.

I’ve used Dutta from EU to USA. Their communication wasn’t stellar, so at times it was just the "no news is good news’ type of thing. I really wasn’t impressed with them, but horse was ultimately fine so :woman_shrugging:t3:

A friend used a different company around the same time and they communicated with her more than mine did with me. So it just varies.

I’ve never dealt with a longer term quarantine though.
