Looking for Horse Transport recommendations

I just purchased a 3 yr old PB Arabian with limited trailering experience. I am considering Bob Hubbard Transport. She is currently in northern CA and would be coming to the KC area. I’m only interested in established horse transport places to ship her, but I have never had to ship a horse and don’t have any history of working with these kind of companies.

Does anyone have any experience with Bob Hubbard Transport? Any other companies you might recommend? I’ve tried a couple of others recommended but they don’t go to CA for some reason.

I have also been trying to find a medical/mortality short term policy for her, but it seems nobody will sell anything unless you buy a year policy. If anyone has purchased a travel policy for say a 30 or maybe 60 day period, I would love to hear about it. TIA

I’ve never heard of travel insurance for horses. You may need to buy a year’s policy and then cancel it for a partial refund if you don’t want to keep it.

I don’t have a shipping recommendation, but when Brookledge was unable to handle the route I needed, they referred me to this list:

I have used Tony Aprile Horse Trans, Bob Hubbard and most recently BrookLedge. They are all reliable and super pros, but I’d call all for a quote/make sure they operate on your route.

Brook Ledge. Or Equine Express. Bob Hubbard will likely need you to get the horse to I5 on your own and we’re more expensive last I checked

I’ve used Equine Express twice, I would highly recommend them.

I used Bob Hubbard for door to door delivery from Oregon to Alabama last year. I had a very good experience with them. Their prices were a bit more expensive but they were the only bigger transport company delivering to the part of Alabama at the time.

I’ve used Equine Express (multiple times) and Blue Chip. Great experiences with both of them. Good Luck!

Equine Express!!! Will ship door to door, keep you informed during the journey and are real horse people. Shipped an OTTB from Lexington KY to San Antonio area, TX over Christmas. They layed over at the EE facility in north Texas on Christmas Day to give their drivers the holiday, but they sent me pics of him in his stall there and he did fabulous. HIGHLY recommend them.

I will third Equine Express! I also had a horse shipped from KY to TX with a layover in Pilot Point and they sent me updates and pictures regularly. I once had to cancel last minute (within 2 days) which I know must’ve been a pain for them, but they were so gracious about it. Highly recommend!!

second the earlier comment re insurance - buy a one year, then cancel when horse is arrived, AND settled, etc. I would say a month after arrival, depending on the horse, the price, etc. You may not even be required to pay whole premium up front.

I used Bob Hubbard to ship a horse from Michigan to No. CA a few years ago. The service was excellent and she arrived in good shape. I have used Equine Express many times over the years and I have always been pleased with them.

I’ve used Bob Hubbard Transport numerous times and highly recommend them. They take excellent care of the horses in my experience and are patient, kind and professional. Several were Arabians, 2 didn’t have prior trailering experience other than trailering around the farm exposure. They both rode in box stalls and did great.

Equine Express was also a great experience, I would use either with confidence. Hubbard has had best shipping dates for me when I used them, hence the frequency.

Best of luck with your new horse!
