Looking for Hunter/Jumper Barn Near San Diego

Hello! I will be moving to La Jolla, San Diego this fall to begin a graduate degree at UCSD. As a student on a stipend, I won’t have much money to spend, so I’m looking for a hunter/jumper or eventing trainer that would be able to provide lesson horses. Once I have some money saved up, I’d be open to a half-lease, but it’s hard to predict when that would be possible.

I have ridden hunter/jumpers for 14 years and eventing for 2 (throughout grade school, basically) but took a four year break in college. For the past year I’ve been doing mostly flatwork with the only trainer in my midwestern college town. I would love to get back to jumping or eventing, and am curious what the San Diego area has to offer.

Thank you for your recommendations!

The barns around Del Mar will be pretty convenient from La Jolla or UTC with traffic, one of those might work. Ridgemar Equestrian and Brooktree both have school horses and half leases, they’re based on the same property. Concord at the horse park has school horses who jump to about 2’, but I don’t think they usually do half leases. The barns further out will likely be a bit cheaper, but potentially tough to get to with traffic, depending on your schedule. Feel free to pm me for more details! I was doing the same hunt about a year ago…
