Hi all- I have a new horse and am in need of a new saddle. She will be very difficult to fit well, high wither, big shoulder, downhill back, and girth position that is farther back! So I need some recommendations on saddle fitters in Michigan or that will travel to Michigan and that are very competent at doing a proper fitting, taking measurements, etc. Any help is appreciated, I’ve looked back at some of threads but I am hoping there might be more current insight. Right now I’m just looking for a jump saddle but I will be in need of a dressage saddle soon as well. Thanks in advance!
Dianne Pulles does a wonderful job. She is located in SE Michigan, not sure how far she travels https://www.saddlefitsolutionsllc.com/
Thank you! I have heard great things about her. I have been eyeballing Stubben saddles for awhile, does she work with other brands than listed on her website? Does anyone have experience with a Stubben fitter that serves Michigan?
I got my Trilogy dressage saddle from Sally Dietrich. She has been great to work with and will work on any type of wool flocked saddle you currently have. I would imagine she’d be able to take measurements if you wanted to find another saddle she didn’t carry. It was truly the most low pressure/no pressure demo when I was looking for a saddle and that was so refreshing. She’s is in Michigan-- You can find her contact information on the Trilogy website.
Does anyone know of a Stubben saddle fitter that will service southwest Michigan?
Independent saddle fitters usually work with any brand saddle - Stubbens are wool, so they should have no issue fitting if you already have the saddle. Usually if they’re “affiliated” with a brand to have access to stock and ordering new ones but work on any. If you’re looking for a Stubben rep, to try out a whole bunch at once and order a new saddle, try Stubben’s NA website. I’d check bordering states as well, since reps and fitters tend to travel quite a bit. Option 27, if no Stubben reps come to your area - most big tack places carry Stubbens that you can trial.
I emailed Stubben NA about a week ago to find out who has our area of Michigan. If they get back to me I’ll update this thread. The lady I used from Stubben 10 years ago is no longer in the area.
I second Sally. She worked on my Stubben hunt and dressage saddles for a few years and did an amazing job. She’ll work with any wool flocked saddle (or change it from foam to wool) and is low pressure. I can’t reccomend her enough.
Kate Ballard at Stanbridge Master Saddlers https://stanbridgesaddlers.com/ also comes up to Michigan. She is awesome. She’s located in St. Charles, IL, but does make trips up to Michigan.
Around here (Holland) everyone uses a lady named Pam Omer. Have never worked with her but she comes to my barn often.
Just heard back from the Stubben fitter for Michigan. Here is her information
