Looking for saddle recommendation for a rider with a long calf, not femur

Asking for some saddle recommendations for a friend. She’s tall (6’+) rider with a longer calf than femur. Her current saddle is a Stubben Zaria that sadly does not fit her new horse. All the new saddles we’ve tried with extended flaps seem to be built for long femurs and put her leg very far back/ tip her forward horribly. Has anyone else dealt with this and do you have any suggestions for models to try?

Horse needs shoulder gussets/ drop panels and +upswept panels+ medium tree + very wide gullet + lots of wither clearance.

We do have access to a great independent fitter but they only look at saddles you have in hand. And shipping is expensive so any recommendations appreciated! Thanks!

I like the variety of options Bruno Delgrange has for flaps. Also, highly recommend Arion HST saddles. They have tons of options and their quality is extremely nice.

That’s beyond my pay grade!

I should add, I am nearly 6’ tall, and I adore my Bruno… but I don’t think my calf is particularly long or my femur particularly short…

I have a long calf…Butets work well for me. Anything else typically puts my lower leg behind me…opposite chair seat. Hope this helps.

What seat size is she in?
Is the new horse narrower through the barrel than the old one?

Long femurs need a more forward flap, long calves need long flaps. Sounds like she also needs to lengthen her stirrups. Any brand that you can order long flaps from which is most.

The two main possibilities are that the saddles she’s trying that tip her forward either have the deepest part of the seat too close to the stirrup bar, so tipping her balance forward, OR there isn’t enough support for her leg causing her leg to fall back. The first possibility is why I asked about seat size. The second possibility is why I asked if the horse is narrower through the barrel. Pictures might help sort which it is.
I have in my inventory an 18" Harry Dabbs monoflap that meets all your criteria for the horse and I find it extremely well balanced and secure and I’m also just over 6’ and find most jump saddles tip me forward. Might be worth a try if you are in the US.

I have a Stubben Roxane that has forward stirrup bars and upswept panels that was adjusted in the panel legs to fit TB withers. I bet she could find one easily. Mines a 17.5 31cm I think?
