Looking for Stallions that Carry Multiple Crosses to F-Line Holsteiners

I breed Cleveland Bay sporthorses and am very interested in crossing Cleveland Bay sporthorse mares back to a Holsteiner stallion. I am looking for suggestions of Holsteiners that carry lots of crosses back to the Cleveland Bays and Yorkshire Coach horses that influenced the breed back in the 1800s, which are most directly represented in the F-line Holsteiners.

I just discovered that the KWPN Stallion Nimmerdor is sired by the Holsteiner Farn, who is of this sire line – going back to Tobias, Achill, etc.

Last year I bred a Holsteiner mare by Franat to my 3/4 Cleveland Bay stallion and am very pleased with the resulting filly. I plan to replicate this cross for 2013.

Would love some suggestions and information. Because the mares would not be eligible to produce foals that could be registered in the Holsteiner books, I am not as concerned about that aspect of the breeding, but I would certainly like the suggestion of quality horses that carry these lines – even if they are not registered or approved as Holsteiners.

I just came across the Holsteiner stallion Cimarron who is definitely from these lines. Does anyone have any feedback about him?

Holstiener F-line

Fantomas Farouche in Holstein carries the F line. There is also a recently approved Mecklenburg-Vorpommern stallion De Farouche and Oldenburg-approved stallion Feldjunge. The owner of Fantomas has focused his breeding efforts on preserving this F-line in Holstein. The progeny are beautiful horses with substance, outstanding temperaments, elastic gaits and that expressive knee action. There are a number of mares owned by a woman in Holstein that continue to produce F-line offspring. I can put you in touch with her if you are interested.

kate gerhart out of sellersville pa is riding an approved ahha stallion ‘Ramses’ who is roller coaster x lambadero x fasolt.

the lambadero x fasolt mare is in tx and was a very highly bonited mare in holstein. the stallion is very interesting breeding, particularly with no corde. he is young and currently getting mileage in the hunter ring - succesfully - but with very good jump. kate did the million the last two years with her top horse, timo.

ramses’ pedigree not only has fasolt in third, but also further back carries fant i (by fanal by favorit), faber (also by favorit), favorit a third time through rocco’s stam and then a fourth which carries down to fasolt… so yes, multiple crosses back there to F. there are others, but hopefully this answers the question.

Since you’re pleased with the Franat, you should talk to the Peterson’s who owned him. They also owned a stallion, Titan, who a was F line on the damside. They may have several offspring that are crosses of Titan on Franat mares. They have a young stallion I believe that is this cross, Tailored Fortune.

just noticed that ramses is actually in the ahha stallion auction.

The dam of Totilas, Lominka, carries Farn on both sides of her pedigree - through her sire Glendale (a Farn grandson via Nimmerdor), and through her dam, who is a Farn great-granddaughter).

The KWPN stallions Consul and his son Judgement also go back to Farn (via Nimmerdor).

Thanks for that input DownYonder! I don’t think I will be breeding my Cleveland Bay to Totilas though!!

Found a few more.

Farn was sired by Fax I, who was sired by the 1940 Holsteiner Fanatiker.

The 1976 Holsteiner stallion Fernando I had Fanatiker in his 4th generation. Fernando I sired the mare Valeska IV, who was dam to the approved Holsteiner stallions Corofino I and II as well as Camiros.

Camiros is here in the U.S. at Fox Fire Farm. http://www.foxfirefarm.us/pages/foxfire_stallions/camiros.html

There are also a couple of sons of Corofino I standing in the U.S. - Holsteiner stallion Cicera’s Icewater (http://www.westwiththewind.com/cicerasicewater.html ), and Oldenburg stallion Coromino (http://www.heritagemanorfarm.com/HMF/Article/3565). FWIW, Coromino is in the OHBS/GOV stallion service auction. http://oldenburghorse.auctionanything.com/Home.taf .

Does anyone know anything about the sire Emmerton? (Emilion - Wellington - Nimmerdor - Farn, etc. and then out of a Nimmerdor mare?)

Thanks for these responses so far – lots to look at!

Saw a wonderful Emmerton colt April 2010, out of a fabulous motherline. First Emmerton colt in Holland, so not for sale. And still not for sale this fall when I asked again. May be the only horse in Holland not for sale at the right price

Emmerton x Chin Chin x (Olympic) Ahorn - I’m certain they will get him approved this fall, look for him at the stallion presentations

Classe

Classe is double Farnese. I have seen a bunch of his foals, and like them much. He does need a blooded mare as the foals can grow slowly and with not much leg.

Tim

Did you ever find an F-Line stallion to breed to your mares? Where are you located? I have a stallion that is a son of Franat, who was one of the leading F-Line stallions for many years. He is not fully registered but has a full certificate of pedigree on his sire’s side from the AHHA and we are looking into getting him AWS registered through his offspring. He is a well made, athletic 16.2 hh 1998 chestnut with chrome that stamps his babies with great movement, fantastic brains and athleticism. I am breeding him to my own mares but considering standing him to the public. I have a few babies on the ground from him out of a variety of different mares, some just starting under saddle. He is located in Central Pa and I only do live-cover but he is a very mannerly stallion. If you’re interested let me know.

Reesling is a Holsteiner with Franat lines also. His website is http://www.trailsendstable.com/Reesling.html. He has had some very nice foals and was easy to work with when I knew him. Since you are into Cleveland Bays, I am pretty sure he has been genetically tested to not have the chestnut gene.

Sorry, Nittany, but the chestnut does make your guy a non-starter, especially since I have some bay alternatives. I have a Franat mare who has a phenomenal yearling filly by my CB/TB stallion, so I am confident that this is a direction I want to pursue.

Since I made my original post, I acquired the stallion Cimarron (Columbus x Lustige, ex Fasolt) and he has exactly the bloodlines I am seeking. He is also a former #1 ranked sire of eventing horses by USEF. We will do our first collections this week. Cimarron is available to outside mares, so if anyone is interested in him, please contact me privately.

Thanks, everyone for your input and suggestions.
