Looking for Tall Boots for wide calves

Hey there,

I’m currently looking for a pair of tall boots that will fit my calves. I’ve looked around in my area with no luck. My foot size is 6 and calf size is 16", do you have any suggestions?!

Thanks!

The Ovation Flex Plus field boot has both wide and extra-wide calf sizes, achieved with an accordian-stretch panel at the back of the leg. They also come in different heights. And best of all… they’re good-looking and under $300 (about $289 IIRC).

Thanks! I’ll check them out.

Ariat makes a boot called the Arita Heritage in an Extra Wide (medium height only I believe). Well made and under $300.

I just got a pair of Ariat heritage boots. They will be TIGHT on your calves when you first buy them (my legs felt like a stuffed sausage and I could only wear very very thin breeches/boot socks at first. They give quite nice after you wear them around and break them in. I got them from SmartPak which is great because if I didn’t like them they have the option to return for a full refund. They were also on sale which was nice.

It doesn’t look like they have your size right now, but I’d keep checking. I would not go through Dover unless you want to risk not having them fit and paying a return fee. I can not recommend any other boots other than going custom that fit wider on a calf (I didn’t find any in my search).

I second the Ariat Heritage Contours. My calves are slightly less than 16 inches and I got the wide even though the size chart says they only go up to 15.They were super tight at first and I could barely zip them so I did the bathtub method and now they are good. They are nice boots!

I only wet down the inside of the boots and then used a hairdryer to heat then wore them around (just like I do with all my leather shoes). I didn’t want to risk dulling the outside by completely submerging them. I know that a lot of people do the bathtub full soak w/o issue but my luck I’d be the one who ruined their nice new boots!

Der Dau boot stretcher is what I lived by when breaking mine in…as well as the Equifit gel heel protectors - get yourself a pair of them too!
If you have a Dover store near you (I’m lucky that I got to go to the store and have them try them) then that’s a good option as well.
And I agree with the other posters - they will be TIGHT, so much so you want to cry (I may have shed a few tears)

Another vote for the Ariat Heritage Contour. I love mine!! Super comfortable (minus the breaking on obviously lol), and I think they look very nice for the price tag.

I tried the Ariat Heritage Contour boots but I was only able to zip up the left leg. When I tried to put on the right leg it wouldnt zip up at all onto to widest part of my calf, I didn’t want to break the zipper lol when I tried the x-wide they were to loose by the knee

Tredstep has boots for small feet and wide calves. They look custom. DeMedici or Rapheal.
