There is a trail riding area near Gaffney called Kings Mountain. It is actually the site of a revolutionary war battle where the British were defeated by the “Overmountain Victory Boys,” kind of a rag-tag militia made up of volunteers from TN/NC/SC/VA. A turning point in the revolutionary war so it’s kind of cool to ride there. There’s a group called “Friends of Kings Mountain” which has a Facebook page. I bet you could find some riders through that. (One who comes to mind is Dr. Mike Bridges, a vet, who is a big KM supporter and involved with CTRs.)
The Kings Mountain equestrian area is about 20 or so miles from Gaffney, straight north on I-85; you cross into NC, take exit 2, turn right and stay straight on that road for about 8 miles - very easy to get to.
