I’m looking for my old Appendex QH gelding, Easy Dad (by Easy Jet out of Dad’s Grey) better known as Zinger. Zinger is a bay, 15.3 and 3/4 hands, with a small irregular, almost roany star, and a tiny snip., and no other “born markings”, but he has a small white patch in his mane, just in front of his withers.
He has good, black feet, and is slightly long in the back, very long in the neck. Attractive, sensitive head, with a small white scar on the bridge of his nose (last time I saw him, about 6 years ago) And a very thick, full tail.
Zinger is a 1986 model, bred in California. He was my professional whip horse, a point to point racer, and later my training/prelim event horse. I also ponied race horses at steeplechase meets with him, and he was a great pace setter for the chasers doing trot sets. He is the sort that gets along well in a group, but does not like horses “running up” on him. Wonderful ground manners, and very sweet natured.
I sold him to Stephen Heard, a Nashville lawyer, as a hunt horse in 1994 or 95, and he carried Mr. Heard safely for many years, and I was promised when I sold him that Zinger would have a home for life.
I have learned, however, that Mr. Heard donated Zinger to a college program when he could no longer hunt. I was heartbroken at the time, but it was already too late.
I would like to know what became of my “Zinger”. He was my fast companion and friend for many years, and I sold him with the belief he’d be retired happily when the time came to retire.
Maybe you knew this horse in college, probably east of the Mississippi, maybe at William Woods (I emailed their director, never got a response) or another college with a riding program, I heard Zonger was donated as a dressage school horse (he was doing Prelim level event dressage, was honest, had a good trot back when I had him, and an average canter.
Email or IM me…and if you have him now, and have a photo, I’ll tell you all about his youth…he’s had a remarkable life
