Your mare will be 21 in a month or two. I’m not a breeder, but isn’t that fairly old for a maiden mare to be bred for the first time?
Yes you are right. I have gone back and forth. She’s happy and healthy currently. I have bred older mares before. I know I’ll need some luck on my side.
And your mare will need luck on her side, as well. I believe that mortality rates for older maiden mares are pretty scary. If you love her, I wouldn’t even think about it.

Maybe try the sport horse forum if you are not looking for a race horse. Most of us cross over to other disciplines, but you will find more breeders over there.
