Looking to buy a treadmill- recommendations?

I’m looking to add a treadmill to our farm and would like to hear recommendations from those who have them. Prefer something reasonably priced. Barn of 16, but not all will use it. I could sure use the help with rehab, it it’s been a long time since I’ve had access to one and they have changed so much.

Bump. Also happy to buy used if someone knows where to look

I have used and know some people who own a Horse Gym and have had super luck with it. If you call the rep, they may be able to help you with the used option as well as new…
One friend of mine who has had a few models over the years has said to me that the new ones are not built nearly as well as the older models (so typical of almost everything in this day and age).
You are probably looking at around $35K plus delivery and set up for new and anywhere between $20-25K plus delivery and set up for used. And don’t forget yearly maintenance.

Another trainer I know believes in ‘walkers’ more than treadmills, especially the ones that go in both directions. They put their horses on it for over an hour a day. If you are spending that kind of money…may want to look at those for comparison.

Thank you Elouise. I have considered a walker too. Definitely still in the running, but the treadmill would take up much less space. Thanks for your insight.

Another vote for contacting Horse Gym and inquiring about used equipment. They usually have a few used units to offer, or can tell you when they will be receiving used ones from existing owners looking to trade up. Do keep in mind you’ll need to have an electrician install a dedicated outlet and you may have to rent a special fork lift if you plan to do the set up yourself; which isn’t difficult with the right equipment.

luckily my DH is quite competent handling all kinds of equipment. We have sent multiple horses to use an underwater treadmill and he was so impressed, that he was ready to build one of those. It just seems prudent to consider buying one and keeping our horses at home instead of sending them off for rehab. Wouldn’t hurt all of them for keeping fit too.

I’ve used a basic/older horse gym model. I liked it. We only did a brisk walk and then increase/decrease incline on it. Safety features worked. I think we had issues getting a horse gym maintenance person to come maintain it or even fix it. We ended up with a local heavy duty mechanic to service it.

Dream would be to have an aqua treadmill or one that could do both.
