check the NJ AG dept to see if they have anything posted on there, otherwise it could be a self-imposed quarantine for strangles or something

That reads like they did the responsible thing.
After a horse was sick at a show I know multiple stables around this area quarantined all horses who had gone just in case. So far, it appears to have been isolated to one horse and not infectious, so hopefully that horse is ok, but I think quarantine instead of possibly spreading things is the only appropriate thing to do sometimes, even if it’s a total pain in the neck!
Thank you to them for doing the right thing!
Hope everything is OK. They have an excellent manager on staff who works very hard to keep those horses healthy and happy.
