Lovatt and Ricketts Rubicon?

Anyone own this saddle, do you like it? Thanks!

I have an old Lovatt and Ricketts but I don’t know what “model” it is. I do love it though, I find it similar to my Passiers.

Thanks!

Hi

I have had a Rubicon (although under the Arabian Saddle Co. name) and currently have a Solstice. I love these saddles so so much! I would be happy to answer any specific questions you might have. They are fantastic saddles.

Ooh, ooh, I have questions. Is your Ribicon equivalent black? I have heard that the black fades to an ugly green. Does your skin ever get pinched between the over girth and the stirrup leather on the Rubicon? What are the differences ibetween the two models (Rubicon/Solstice) in seat, sturrup bar position, comfort, saddle fit, shoulder mobility, etc?

I can’t answer questions but I bought a used Solstice and love it. It has stayed in good condition.

My Rubicon was black! It was buffalo. It did fade and I have since only bought dark brown saddles because of that reason  I am sure if you rode in sheepskin it would prevent the fading though.

I wear half-chaps so I never get any pinches. The difference to me was the fact the Rubicon was too large for me so I felt sloppy in it. My Solstice is smaller and fits like a glove. To me the Solstice feels more like my dressage saddle with a longer or straighter flap but an oh-so-cushy knee roll and seat!! Both saddles felt completely balanced and fit a wide range of horses (including horses with big movement and/or large shoulders). My friend just got a new Rubicon for her dippy-backed gelding and she loves it! (I think my Solstice is more comfy though :D)

Thanks, Regardless. Great info on both saddles. I am slightly leaning toward the Solstice. I like that it is more like a dressage saddle, but is it still easy to get up in two point for long canters or the occasional jump over a log?

Yes! It’s pretty all-purpose! A longer stirrup length and I find it easy to keep a long, draped leg and on my galloping days I shorten the stirrups and can gallop to my little heart’s content  Plus the plushy squishy knee-rolls feel oh-so-nice
