Love collies? 106 collies need homes/hoarding situation in Houston, TX

I don’t usually post things like this and I hope it’s okay, but in the hopes of reaching as many eyes as possible I am putting this here. If it’s not allowed I understand.

The number was originally 93 dogs but one of the girls had a litter of 13 last night. These are lovely dogs with smiles already on their sweet collie faces. Mostly smooths with a few roughs. Collies are extremely easy to live with and make very good family pets.

Even with no socialization, they are good for their baths:https://www.facebook.com/houstoncollie/photos/pcb.551494091644344/551492908311129/?type=1&theater

They just want some attention:

Oh they’re smoothies too! I love smoothies!!!

Sending a donation!

There is no better dog than a collie…my favorite breed. The smoothies don’t need much grooming either.

I too believe there is nothing better than a collie. We had full collies in the past and now have a shollie- German shepherd/ collie cross who we are absolutely in love with.

If you want an excellent family dog and all around companion, you can’t beat a collie! If I wasn’t at my limit as far as dogs, I would love to adopt!

I need a dog to ad to my herd like a hole in my head…but jingling they all find loving homes!

Shollie, LOL!

I love collies as well. Have had two throughout my life and they were simply superb. Would definitely have one again.

These look to be very well bred collies as well. Oh, I wish they weren’t so far away…

Another bitch had a litter of 10 yesterday bringing the number of dogs who need homes to 126. From all descriptions they are nice dogs. Collies are easy to house train and rescues tend not to be all that complicated. Houston is far but the rescue has said they will consider any approved home so if you are even mildly interested, fill out an application!

They will adopt out of state but you must go to Houston to meet the dog.

They are definitely not “well-bred.” Backyard breeder/hoarder situation. Many of them have eye deformities.

I just spoke to Houston Collie Rescue and asked about personally meeting the dogs in Houston. Here was their reply:

I am encouraging everyone to go ahead and fill out an adoption application at the Applications link at www.houstoncollierescue.org. We are still getting our arms around this (17 more dogs from the lady today), and may work with some sister organizations nationwide to get these dogs placed.

FYI…there are horses at Camp Collie so we can tell if they are okay with them.

So, if you’re interested, go ahead and send in an app, just let them know that you may be too far away to travel to Houston, but are very interested in working with a more local rescue.

There are collie rescues all over…maybe they can partner with one close to potential adopters.

I just shared this with some friends in TX. If I was not full to the brim I would definitely want one. So glad they were able to get them out of that situation.

They just found 19 more dogs. The hoarder had them hidden at her father’s house.

Good lord.

and I thought 101 Dalmatians was a stretch…
