Low cost vet services (shots/hw test) at TSC once a month

Once a month Tractor Supply locations are having licensed vets do a clinic for low cost pet care ( both dogs and cats) at their stores. There is an ala carte menu for some things and packages for things like puppy shots and annual shots. You will also be able to buy prescription hw/flea meds for a discount at these clinics.

I saw a price list for some things and it listed rabies shots for like $12 and the 3 year shot for $18. A full series of shots was $48ish (puppy set) and a bit extra for a heartworm test I believe.

I missed the April clinic at my store, but I am taking my dogs to the May one for the 3 year rabies.

Found the price list link: http://petvet.pawsplus.com/services-and-clinics/vaccination-packages-and-prices/

$15 for microchipping too.

thanks - am passing the info on to some folks I know - will be very helpful

Just wanted to pass along that I took my dog to this month’s vet clinic at TSC and it was great. The clinic is well run by a vet and techs from outside of the area. They do give you a list of vet clinics within a 2ish hour radius of the store though, in case you should have an emergency or anything.

When you go in, a girl with an ipad takes your information and tells you that you can walk around or leave and they will text you when it is your time to see the vet. This worked great for me, as you receive a text when they are ready to do your paperwork and another when the vet is ready to see your dog.

I had them microchip my JRT and give him a 3 yr rabies shot. It was less than $30. It did take us a while to be seen and I think we were the last ones they saw, but there were a lot of dogs there- one family brought 6 or 9 dogs, I don’t remember.

As hard as it may be to imagine, my JRT was the best behaved out of all the dogs there at the time. Well, except the 2 puppies that were asleep in the buggy, but they did growl at another dog that got close to their buggy. In the comments section of my dogs chart the vet wrote “Very nice!!!”. lol

Anyway, just thought that I would share my experience in case anyone else wanted to try their monthly clinic out.

And to think I only spent $350

That’s what my normal vet would have charged, IF they would give the 3 year rabies vaccine. I’m not completely sure they would. They never mention it and have no literature out on it at all.

I think the clinics are great for Bordatella on the off years that my dog doesn’t need the other vaccines. I took him last year. He’s a 100+ lb VERY well behaved GSD. I put him in a sit beside me the whole time, you wouldn’t believe how many people let their dogs come to him, grab at his tail, bark in his face etc etc. He tolerated it all, it was me getting pi$$ed. If he would have turned around and nailed one of the trespassing dogs, it would have been his big, bad fault though I’m sure. I now have a pet insurance policy on him and I’m not sure how the clinics affect that, if I would have a problem if he didn’t get an exam every year…need to look into that…

If you are in the Fort Worth area, google TCAP. Cheap and quick! They also do VERY cheap neutering clinics. Got my guy done- for $65. The local vet wanted $316!

Considering the fact that I just got quoted …wait for it…

$116 for JUST the distemper/parvo vaccine, not including the $75 office visit which was additional,

…this is good news!

Check out www.shotvet.com as well. They do it outside the local Walgreens here! Seems to be the same idea.
