When you find something they like it is best to keep using it–if they can be picky.
It’s 24% protein. The difference in protein between 1lb of 30%, and 1lb of 24%, is 27gm. 136gm vs 109gm
An 1100lb horse in moderate work needs 700gm.
22lb of hay at a poor 6% protein is 600gm.
At a slightly better 7% it’s 699gm
At a decent 8% is 799gm
Average for grasses is in the 8-10% range
Meaning, 24% vs 30% isn’t going to make or break the diet. If your hay quality is poor enough, then you need more than even a 30% ration balancer anyway
Keyflow USA has a low NSC balancer, Golden Oldies. NSC is 9
Unfortunately all those Keyflow products are super $$$ - $80 for a 33lb bag of that product
