Low profile helmets

I currently have a trauma void eq3 helmet. When I was looking, it for the best of the options I had available. However I have a very long face & it is very unflattering. Is there a lower profile rated helmet out there? I can’t spend the kind of prices that samshield wants for their helmets, but I can go to the 350-400 range if I can find one that is significantly less unflattering.

Have you looked on Fundis-equestrian.com? They had my daughter’s Samshield for half what I paid here in the US.

To be honest, my cheap Ovation helmet is the least mushroom-y I’ve found. My head is oval.

I don’t like them since they don’t fit my head well, but onek are pretty low profile.

Yeah, I think the OneK are quite flattering. Mine definitely looked better on me than my newer Tipperary Windsor does, but the OneK with MIPS fit me oddly so I choose safety over beauty!

I second this. I wear a 61 so as you can imagine the mushroom look is inevitable but the ovation looks great and when I want to be fancy I have a Kask.

I have a oval, shrunken Beatlejuice head, and I’ve been happy with Charles Owen Fian and the One K.

This helmet might not work in the hunter ring but would be fine in the jumper ring. I use it for fox hunting with a velvet cover. I’m a long oval with a big circumference and this helmet does not give you a mushroom head. It’s very comfortable. https://www.charlesowen.com/products/j3

I must have a goofy shaped head because EVERYTHING gives me a mushroom noggin… except for my Kask. The price made me cringe but it fits like a glove and is so flattering.

I am in the midst of trying to find a new helmet. My standard long-oval OneK XL feels too big after a year (guess the lining settled/squished) and I am wanting to maximize safety. I bought the One K MIPS long oval in large, but the large was too big in MIPS. Returned it for the medium, it was tiny and sat on my head like a toy top hat.

Has anyone else noticed the size discrepancy between the OneK MIPS and standard Defender helmets?

My next step is to try the Tipperary Windsor because it has MIPS and the dial fit in the back so I can rachet that sucker to my head. I hate to say it, but the best fitting helmet I’ve ever had was my $60 Troxel back in the day.

Has anyone tried both the OneK and the Tipperary Windsor? I’m getting tired of shipping helmets back. And I’m sick of feeling like a bobble head doll with my XL Defender.

I rode in the regular OneK for years and found the OneK with MIPS didn’t fit me at all. It’s supposedly the same fit, but I found it way too oval for my head.

I ended up in the Tipperary Windsor and it’s my favorite helmet ever. I loooove the dial fit.

And I found the regular medium OneK with MIPS to fit exactly the same as the non-MIPS. It is a slightly different feel with the MIPS.

YMMV.

Yes. I have also work the Defender for years. I tried the MIPS and got sized a size up, but also found it didn’t fit as well as the Defender. However, I wear the regular (or non-oval) OneKs.

Update: got the Windsor in the mail today and I love it! In a perfect world it could be a tiny bit more oval for me, but I feel like it fits my head 360 degrees (the OneK felt like it perched on my head even though it was large enough.) I will have to get use to the bit of bling (I ride dressage in Hunter Land) but I do think it is pretty. It seems cool enough, too. Lastly, the leather/pleather on the harness is softer than the OneK.
