Anyone ever watch it? Or have a copy they want to get rid of? I’m curious about her technique but you can only buy it new WITH the tools. I’m not coughing up $75 to get a silly DVD and some tools I already have!
I have the DVD (it’s a VHS transfer so not HD quality). I can make you a copy. It might take me through the weekend. I’ll tell you it’s very informative but I’m not sure it’s worth $75. Free is better!
Not too worried about quality. That would be great if you’d make me a copy! I’ll PM ya!
You’ll learn far more than you expect from that DVD. One braided mane is $55 these days, so it pays for itself in no time. Those tools help you braid faster and get the braids more even. It is not like other how-to’s. The DVD very clearly shows you little things that make big differences.
Well, you would be a little biased don’t you think Ruthann?
I’ll agree, it’s very informative but I don’t feel I’ll ever be able to braid as well as you nor be able to charge $55 for my braid job. I’m envious of your skill and would gladly hire you to braid my horses if you were in my area.
OP, talked to my bro and he won’t be able to make you a copy anytime soon. He moved and everything is still packed up so I’ll just send you my personal copy. I’ll get it out for you on Monday!
 I wasn’t going to say anything LOL!!
Since Top Turnout was brought up, OP, she has a Facebook page here, good tips, etc., –

Thanks again!
In my experience, if disciplined, you CAN learn to braid just like a top pro. Braiding beautifully is not rocket science. It is a formula. Learn to execute each step of the process accurately and you can lay down gorgeous braids.
Little things make the difference, so you may be closer to stellar braids than you think. The DVD very clearly demonstrates each step of the process. Every stage is counterbalanced for sturdy, comfortable braids. So, you do need execute the formula precisely.
Braiding is like equitation. If your fingers are in position, you can balance to the next movement. That’s what allows you to you lay down gorgeous jobs quickly, consistently and comfortably. So, getting the finger form down will streamline your process. Then, the more you know, the more nuances you’ll pick up from the video. It is all in there. No secrets. No mystery.
After mastering my craft, I spent a decade teaching it as well as working in film and television. I was bent on learning both sides of the camera as well as how to teach in a way that optimizes braiders’ learning curves. The result is not like other how-to videos, especially in our industry. Horse Journal, the Consumer Reports of the equine industry reported, “Bottomline: If you’re looking to kick off your braiding career—be it as an amateur or a professional—you can’t go wrong with Lucky Braids by Ruthann’s Better Braiding Video and Essential Tools Kit. It offers everything needed to learn to braid successfully. The video may seem long, but it offers plenty of the repetition necessary when learning how to braid. The tools greatly decreased our testers’ braiding time.”

I appreciate Ruthann and her efforts to make all of us turnout beautiful horses! I myself do not have the patience to do great manes-tails, yes, manes, noo!-but my daughter watched the video many times and now braids even the most difficult of manes beautifully. It is worth the price!

Thou shalt not Steal!
Lend her the actual dvd but don’t copy it even if your brother unpacks.
I just laid down my money to buy the dvd and the tools. If it turns out I am in fact as uncoordinated as I fear is there a resale market or is it a very light paperweight?
What’s the return policy of the vendor you purchased it from?
I bought it direct from their site but didn’t notice a return policy anywhere. I doubt they would offer an incoordination refund!
The reason I asked if there was a resale market is because I searched both ebay and amazon for used ones and there were none. I obviously would have preferred to buy used. I didn’t know if people were hanging on to them or there was rampant copying going on so no need to resell.

P.S. It is a federal offense to copy the copyrighted DVD. It is also not for resale. If you have any issues, please do give me a call.
Thanks for the comments. I have no intention of copying it but I don’t see why I couldn’t resell it if it doesn’t fit my needs. I see used books and dvds for sale all over including Amazon.com. I bought my copy of Grooming to Win off there not to long ago just to have in my collection. I think it was $4. Hopefully that won’t be an issue as I really would like to learn to braid beautifully.
We’ll get you braiding beautifully. The really fun part of the braiding journey is that the more adept you become with the formula, the more you’ll pick up from the video. So, as long as you are disciplined pay mind, you’ll be learning from the DVD for years and years. I promise. ~Ruthann

If you want to resell it, you are perfectly within your rights.
And please let me know :D.
Ruthann, I truly wish you’d separate the video from the tool, saleswise.
All Lucky Braids products are satisfaction guaranteed. We stand behind everything. You are welcome to return anything, though I am confident with the DVD, you’ll learn more than you anticipate. That has been the case across the board.
When we first launched the video, we sold it separately. However, once people got into braiding, they realized how handy the tools are, and were then disappointed. That is not the business we are in. If you want to lay down gorgeous braid jobs, we’ll set you up.
The tools are designed for speed and safety. They also help you get the braids more even. Have you every had a pull through in a horse’s forelock and he pulled back? then it is stuck in his forelock and flapping on his head. That’s not how to send winners to the ring. Braiding should be a relaxing time. With our tools, you can maintain control of the hook, to send the horse to the ring level-headed. Plus, when you drop your tools, you lose your rhythm- your feel fro the sizing. So, these help you make more uniform braids quickly.
With this system, you won’t need anything else to take the braids out, either. So, no seem ripper- which people often put in their mouth, giving parasites easy entry. You can not only take the braids out with just these scissors, but the DVD outlines how to do it so there is NO risk of cutting the bottom of the mane. Cut makes don’t stay as tight, so there is a whole ripple effect to being able to do things well. ~Ruthann
I love the DVD and the tool. I have the opposite problem. I want to buy a second tool (one for the barn, one for the trailer) but don’t need a second DVD.
