Lucky Braids Iso

So I ordered the Lucky Braids vhs off a consignment shop and when I went to watch it, the vcr ate the dang tape. Any advice or copies collecting dust? That’s what I get for trying to better myself.

Mine was never returned by the friend who borrowed it. Is it available to buy, I just looked at the website and don’t see it there.

I believe the Lucky Braids person still has an active Facebook page if you want to touch base there.

I watched that video many, many years ago, and it had a lot of useful information in it.

Her website still has all of her other products, I loved the shampoo. You’re right, it was an excellent tutorial although I was disappointed that it only covered manes and not tails.

It is available, however $80 is not in my education budget

Is this the video:

I can understand that, I don’t remember what I paid but I stopped riding 13 years ago and bought the video long before that so I’m sure it was a bit less.

Love the music but I think they’re selling their kits vs teaching.

Yes, that’s a snippet.

I appreciate the tips- I read up more on the synopsis and perhaps it’s a blessing the video self-destructed, as it appears to not be 80 minutes of actual braiding instruction, rather many topics that don’t apply to me.

I was excited to watch John the Braider on YouTube, once I slowed down the playback speed. Cheaper too :joy:

It’s pretty easy to repair a snapped VHS tape, so I hope you didn’t throw it out How to Repair a VHS Tape - Video Tape Repair

Several months ago, I bought the Lucky Braids VHS via eBay and have been terrified to try it.

I have another tape or two from the old days and thought maybe I’d take them to a local business that specializes in digitizing old media. But I am definitely following this thread.

Apologies if I’m repeating anyone here – Big ETA, shoutout @luckymaverick – but, in the meantime, if anyone is looking for tutorials, including tails, look up John Hansen (“John The Braider”) on YouTube. I’ve found them easier to follow, especially for tails. Sometimes the camera angles in how-to videos make it hard to accurately see what the braider is doing with their hands. The light bulb really went on for me with tails, in terms of a stupid thing I had been doing wrong.

Credit due, I think someone on COTH suggested him here many old threads ago.

I’ve been watching him on repeat at 1/2 to 1/4 speed.

It never occurred to me to slow it down.
I didn’t even realize 'til fairly recently that you could do that.
